We cling on to our bodies and call them temples. We treat them like fine China, and place them on mantle. To admire, but never touch. Too precious to actually use. Its purpose unfulfilled. Let me tell you something. Your body is not a temple. Your body is a weapon. A weapon of mass adaptation. Capable of great things if it’s used, and it will easily forget if it’s not. 3 million years of evolution gave us a regenerating supercomputer, able to change itself to into whatever it needs to be. Faster, stronger or smarter… your mind will recognize the patters., your muscles strengthen and quicken, Your skin will callous and toughen for the task. We are made to endure the bumps and scratches, ink, scars and holes. They are lessons. Not just to remind our mind, but to remind our body of what it is capable of. Of what it can do when it is challenged. Not wrecking it is a waste of its purpose. Not beating it up makes it forgetful. It becomes brittle and frail. I don’t think I could ever trust anyone without a few good scars. What life have they lived? What grand adventures have they had? We confuse wisdom, thinking it’s earned with time. Wisdom is earned through experience, especially the painful ones. Humans learn best when it hurts. Solving a puzzle to enter the building, then walking the ledges above a city, feeling like a king for a brief minute before having to find a way back out. Of all all the places this could happen, Happy we could do it with @fpluss1 in Caracas. This is Parque Central, the highest skyscraper in Caracas. It’s abandoned from floor 27 all the way to 59 due to a fire. On the top, a glass floor helipad, and the best view in the city. Love to @vidafuria for hosting us. This year I’ve been thinking 🐉 What happened to us? Why are we all stuck and anxious? Lost and Afraid? I’ve realized… it is not our fault. We used to be explorers. Charting distant lands. Waking up with the sun. Tuned into the world, deciphering the patterns around us, and perceptive to the changes of our earth. We used to walk barefoot. Eat with our fingers. Sit around fires. We used to be warriors. Strong. Resilient. Sharp. But times have changed. We’re Soft. Scared of spiders. Afraid of human connection, but also aching for it deeply. We’re given little spiritual cookies for behaving correctly. Sit down. Shut up. Be nice. We were forced to be this way. Enticed like a donkey with a carrot to trudge toward this fate.
