10 days ago I got Covid, the gentle variant Omicron. Gentle they say. It wasn‘t gentle at all. I was seriously sick. And I was terrified. My booster, already 4 months ago, had lowered its protection. But now I am back on track, back on set. I am grateful for this. I am also grateful, that my 14 year old son, who is with me here in Budapest, stayed negative and took care of me. Still…. Still war, still war against millions of civilians but we are still with the people of Ukraine, with all the people, who had to leave their homes, with all the children, who had to leave their homes, with all the men, who are fighting now for their country. Never was Europe, never were the people of Europe so united to fight back, give shelter, to stand up and to stand together, to give help and hope! But I feel sorry too, I feel sorry for all the Russians who have to suffer now under the consequences of all the economic sanctions. It will, of course, hit mostly the poor people- like always. And I feel sorry too for all the social isolation that now follows. I grew up with Russian culture, literature, film, music- with the Russian soul—- there are, they are good people. And they are also people who stand up now, in their own country- against their leader. This war has to end.

First time I saw this painting was in art class, in school. I think I was 10 or maybe 12 years old. I will never forget our art teacher telling us what one of the interpretation of the lamp was: the world public is watching what happend in Guernica, Spain- and did nothing, the world was paralyzed. I remember the feeling I had, looking at this painting, remember feeling the fear of the people, the chaos, the destruction, the desparation. You can see and feel all of this. These days this painting is back in my head, back in my thoughts and for me an expression of what is happening now.
