A happy surprise to learn Ether is at Art Basel again this year. I designed her to speak upon motion trigger and to sing a song I composed with a collection of forests sounds from across the globe. Beats were made using sea mammal sounds, vocals & percussion by @mathiaskunzli recorded live in a cave in LA. Ether the singing cow represents 1 million plant and animal species going extinct, a shepard’s call in reverse crying out to humanity to come back into harmony with nature as earth’s climate reach the tipping point of no return. Ether was created for the 20th anniversary of the Cow Parade Public Art Exhibit 2021 to benefit @godslovenyc doing incredible work feeding the sick. Have you heard of the Overview Effect? It’s a cognitive shift that affects some astronauts when they see the earth from space where they no longer identify with a specific nationality or culture after seeing earth from outer space, instead they see themselves, and all citizens on earth, as one people, living on one world. I’ve never been in space ( only on screen) but I’ve always felt this to be true in my heart as long as I can remember. It’s beyond heart breaking to see innocent people and children get hurt and killed. There’s 32 armed conflicts around the world today. The hate & the divide seems endless but I refuse to accept this is what we are made of. I believe the majority of the human race choose peace & love and it’s a smaller group that perpetuate hate, terror & violence. If more of us want peace we should be able to attain it but not as bystanders. Please sing, shout & stand with PEACE.
