Anatomy of a wrap around cover. Initially, the plan (or so I believed) was two separate covers that could when placed side by side form one single, double wide image. Then the plan switched to one single wraparound cover which made the right side of this piece the most prominent. So characters needed to be moved around while still creating a balance between the Marvel and DC characters. These kinds of covers can be a real slog, but it was a lot of fun revisiting old friends, drawing costumes from yesteryear and recalling my favorite of these types of crossovers. Spoiler alert: X-Men vs Teen Titans by @chrisclearmountain @walter.simonson.5 @louisesimonson926 was the one that blew me away in my childhood!

Happy Mother’s Day to my dear wife @joke2far who could at this point host a master class in being a mother. Easily logged in over 10,000 hours with 9 children at school recitals, rehearsals, plays, science presentations, back to school nights, gymnastics, Girl Scouts, competitive cheer, flag football, soccer, ice skating practice, ballet, dance, hunter jumpers events, gallery shows, birthdays, weddings, comic cons, store signings, and emergency room visits (usually on big national holidays at 11pm at night) and more! It’s frankly more than a full time job, and one which doesn’t have a clock in, clock out option. Every night, I crash out within 5 minutes of hitting head on pillow but she spends an hour plus, rewinding and replaying the days events with the children, like the Tom Brady of moms, reviewing post game footage to better tackle the next day. She still finds time to carve out time and space for just her and me and even a personal day just for herself. Not quite as rare as Haley’s comet or a quadrennial February 29th but it’s close! All of which makes it even more daunting to behold (and inspiring!). So thank you, babe, on being the hero we need and making our family the joy and center of my life. I love you endlessly! Happy Mother’s Day, Carla!

The last WB SDCC bag I did the art for back in 2022 was to have included this trio of unlikely detectives, but were pulled as the debut date changed…measuring just 4”x 4” I couldn’t put a lot of detail in but it was still fun (and humbling) to try and capture their essence with a simple line or two. And yes, my John Byrne influence is on display 💀💀💀#deadboydetectives
Wow!!! Thanks to all the awesome fans who showed up in force for the debut of the @netflix show #deadboydetectives! And thanks to all the critics and viewers for the critical acclaim and heartfelt reception! 🤞🖤🤞🖤 #dcvertigo @neilhimself @steveyockey76

1984. I was a junior in college, drawing editorial cartoons for the school newspaper @dailyprincetonian. I worked in several different styles depending on the article or assignment. Funny to look back on the journey and profession. #nevergiveup #neversurrender #galaxyquest #40yearsago
