Looking back on the work that was done on my new beach home, there were so many emotions. I felt excitement, doubt, and everything in between during the entire process. Now that the house is OFFICIALLY DONE, I can honestly say all of the feelings that went along with the work were all worth it. My home is gorgeous, and everyone at the housewarming loved everything. The bigger takeaway is that my sons and I love being home. Here’s to the finished project, and our FOREVER HOME! . . . 🎥: @jondavolio
Someone once said, “find your happy place, and go there often.” I wholeheartedly agree! The moment we touched down at the “White Isle” I felt it. I felt the serenity. Life is just different here. It’s hard to put a finger on it exactly… but time moves differently. Muscle tension melts away, breathing slows, and I can just feel my nervous system start to regulate. There is a peace here in Ibiza that is unmatched, and yes… it is indeed, my happy place. Here’s hoping you find yours, and you visit often.
Anticipation is a double-edged sword. Used well, it sets people up for amazing surprises and dopamine-inducing responses. Executed poorly, though, and…well…it’s just another letdown. I’ll never take for granted this life I get to live. This photo was taken inside the 2024 HGTV Dream Home on Anastasia Island, Florida. I always have fun hosting all the shows I’ve been a part of. I love the speaking engagements where I get to meet you guys in person, and the consulting that allows me to help clients one-on-one. I’m so fortunate to build homes that house growing families and create products that make life that much more beautiful. I’m basking in gratitude today. What about you?
My life as a homebuilder is the exact definition of “so close, but so far”! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but I can look around at the things left to do and realize I’ll be in the shadows for juuuust a bit longer. If you watched yesterday’s reel, you know I adore a touch of metallics in a space. You also know I’m a fan of mixing hardware finishes and colors. This is a perfect example of that! Though this space has brass accents, I love this faucet in black and the way it plays so well against the stone with those complementing shades. If you’re not ready to commit to full on black, consider a darker bronze. It will give you the same richness and contrast. Either way, have fun with accents and combine colors for a custom appeal.
Want a home that feels thoughtfully designed and impossibly tailored? Unlearn those old design “rules” that tell you everything has to match perfectly. No two people or families are the same, and no two homes should be either. Can we all agree to design homes that work best for our lives and preferences? In this house I wanted a pop of metallic in one place, and a totally different look for another. I leaned into stately stone throughout my home—my shower walls, kitchen counters, refrigerator and more.That meant I needed less decorative elements scattered about. Stone feels regal and timeless. When you install it in a space, let it take its rightful place as the leading role. Give it room to be the star. Elegance is in the simplicity. Go classic in some spaces so that you can go BOLD in others! You’ll see that philosophy in the build of my home!
One of the most fun spaces in my new beach home is the wet room on the roof. It’s full of this gorgeous, glazed Spanish terracotta tile that I’m obsessed with. I love that the tiles are beautiful shades of teal. From top to bottom, this is going to be a room to experience! . . . 🎥: @jondavolio
I love that feeling you get right before a new beginning! Maybe that’s why I’ve always loved Mondays while many of my peers dreaded them. Either way, I’m on the cusp of so much newness. A new home and new life in said home, a change of scenery (a tropical one, *hint hint*), a new season, come onnnn Summer! SO much to celebrate and enjoy. I’m just taking it all in, bit by bit. Listen. Please hear me. When designing your spaces, you don’t have to go all out to impress people with gaudy decor. First off, it most likely won’t be impressive. More sneak peeks, anyone? One of the things you’ll quickly notice in the design details of our new beach home is how much my travels have influenced my choices. I find inspiration in everything, in every place. Golden Moroccan doors give my entrances a custom touch that feels…signature. Because really, would it be a Breegan house without a dash of metallics? We all know the answer to that! 😉
Have you ever heard the expression, “What you don’t see can’t hurt you?” No? Well, me either. BUT, It’s a true statement in interior design if you’re pressed for time or in a financial crunch. For my latest rental, I cut some corners when it came to painting the cabinets. If you haven’t heard by now…the Breegan Jane family miiiiiight have sort of done a thing. We may in fact have moved into our new beach home! Now, there are a few finishing touches still happening, and I can’t wait to show you all the juicy details. Ten years ago my entire world shifted on its axis as I became a member of the greatest society on earth, motherhood. I could have never imagined how many surprises life would have in store for me along the way of this journey, some amazing, some challenging. But motherhood has been the best gift I could have ever been given. This Mother’s Day feels especially beautiful as I get to give my greatest gifts— my boys, the gift of our new home. The meaning of home is too vast for words, but when I see the comfort, joy and peace in their little faces as we begin to settle in, I know I made the right choice. My heart is full today. To every mom, everyone who desires to be a mom one day, to those currently in a mom role, those who are grieving a mom or grieving motherhood, and everyone who is touched by this day, know my heart is with you.

Style and design your home for you. Trends are fun, and I always love expert advice. But if I had to encourage you regarding your home, it would be to fill it with things that bring you joy and lift you up. After all, YOU have to live there. It might as well be exactly what you want and need, right? I will always have a special connection to this piece I refer to as “my ladies.” For years, on some of my toughest days, a glance up at these women posed for a running start would motivate me to get going and give the day my all. I’m looking forward to infusing my new home with all types of artwork and decor that do that and so much more!

Hey you! Are you still afraid of black paint? Why? Listen, it’s 2024 and we are putting those myths to rest! Black doesn’t make spaces smaller if it’s utilized well. In fact, black can actually act as an amazing accent in spaces and draw the eye to exactly where you want. I especially love pairing black with metallics, because it magically makes them appear even shinier than they already are! So put those old design wives tales to rest and break out those moody shades. Your spaces are begging for a bold upgrade!
I’m not just saying it because it’s my profession, but life is SO MUCH EASIER when you hire an interior designer! You don’t have to think about all the little things; that’s for your designer. You don’t have to have the entire vision figured out; that’s for your designer, too. It’s honestly like having a second brain that’s only focused on creating the best home you could ever imagine. For me—actually, for my boys—that meant searching for specific European appliances that met height and function needs I wanted in my new home. If you know anything about Breegan, you know she’s a bit of a workaholic. BUT, nothing…and I mean *nothing* makes my heart smile quicker and bigger than a trip to paradise AKA Ibiza. I’m counting down the days until I feel those tropical sun rays on my skin again! I think these two would agree!
