We found taking photos of these sights and letting him scrawl all over them, on our phones and then taking on printed versions he could colour in, led to much better conversations. Colour Your Streets was born and we have now covered more than 55 areas. But the streets you grew up running around will always be very close to your heart – which is why I am so proud and excited to be bringing our first out of London book, “Colour In… Manchester”, to the great city itself, for what promises to be a lovely colouring sess in the city centre tomorrow… to tie with with the colourful and wonderful @mcrflowerfest – more details to be shared in the morning…. Manchester: you did not let us down. Our first mass colouring-in session and it was truly awesome. 🖍️ It’s all about the three c’s: colouring, coffee and cake. What an amazing morning officially launching our @colouryourstreets Manchester colouring book, in the heart of my home city, surrounded by the best scribblers in town, young and old(er). And not a screen in sight. (Cc @smartphonefreechildhood – you would be proud 💪) We loved seeing just how differently people coloured in the same sights and hearing some of the conversations our colouring crew were having about the 16 sights we picked to define such an iconic city. Huge thanks to @gailsbakery on King Street for hosting this joyous celebration to tie in with our book going on sale and the very inspirational annual @mcrflowerfest And the inimitable and my new fave woman @lucynooneblake for being such a tour de force and creating this special event with me. When Manc women come together – there’s a powerful energy and a good laugh guaranteed. Even at 10 in the morning with loads of kids underfoot (and on a Manchester Derby Day 😜 no less).
