We’re kicking off the 2024 Mackinac Policy Conference and you know what that means: we’re bringing out the really, really, really, ridiculously good ideas.
We’re turning heads and setting trends. Let’s ensure Michigan isn’t just hot right now, but leading the future.
I’ve spoken at quite a few commencements, but this is truly one-of-a-kind. Bela, Makayla, Izzy, Derby, Avery, Christian, Mathew, Katie, and Joseph are a tight-knit class of nine, and I wish you all success as you each take the next step in your journey 🎓

Michiganders who served our nation in uniform are the best of us.
Today, we recognize their bravery, honor their sacrifice, and celebrate the rights and freedoms they gave everything to protect. Let’s continue supporting our service members, veterans, and their families.
I’m proud of all 7,000 Michiganders (and counting!) who have graduated from Michigan Reconnect. Your academic journey doesn’t have to be a straight line, and with Reconnect, more people can continue their education. Congrats to the graduates on their monumental achievement 🎓
Let’s just say it. The rent is too damn high. Lowering costs is a top priority, and with my partners in the legislature and federal government, I’m committed to getting it done. Affordability needs to be the name of the game, so everyone can make it in Michigan.
We have the technology to make extraordinary things happen right here in Michigan, so let’s make sure everyone can access it. Programs like Project Diamond will connect our entrepreneurs with the tools they need to so we can lower costs, expand production, and create more jobs.
Our state has cutting-edge tools and specialized technology that can help startups develop their products – so let’s make it available! Today, I’m instructing state agencies to catalog this equipment and work to make it available to the innovators who need it.
The greatest challenge Michiganders face is costs. So, guess what? We’re going to lower the cost of the biggest expenses in your budget: housing and energy.
I said we’d build, baby, build and that’s exactly what we’re doing. We’re set to meet our goal of 75,000 units a year early (sweet!), so we’re raising the bar. Let’s roll up our sleeves and build or rehab 115,000 homes by September 2026 and help lower rent for Michiganders 🏘️
With our partners in the Biden-Harris Administration, we’re investing in clean energy in communities across the state. Our investments in clean energy are making energy bills for Michigan households more affordable and helping protect our environment at the same time ⚡
