Pretty sure someone needs to invite me to the Hamptons.
Gonna keep wearing my thrifted Brooks Brothers until I get invited to “summer” somewhere.
Got a home improvement project going… Results up in a couple of days 🤞🏻
Bram is not only black, he’s dim. #sweetdumbthing #prettyboys #cats #onebraincell
I’m obsessed with Alex Garland’s new movie, Civil War, and am starting a free, limited edition Substack in order to share this latest hyper-fixation. My neurodiversity is your extra reading. Go to civilwars.substack.com for a Civil War news and opinion update everyday for as long as my fixation lasts. My neurodivergence is your inbox clutter!
If I don’t make my bed while Exley’s having breakfast it often doesn’t get made. Oh and did I say *my* bed? Foolish of me… Whose bed is this?
We have successfully hacked summer (for now) with a cordless misting fan.
Freeze framing what my lawn looks like now so I will remember it in late August after two months of 100-degree temps and no rain.
Office refresh still in progress but sharing bc the details are already making a difference.

Who framed Bram?
You always hurt the ones you love.
Old enough to remember (it’s a collection of “just hard enough” NYT puzzles) PS I caught the misspelling of “Occam.”

Please to announce my debut piece for the writers’ collective Flaming Hydra. Subscribe for $3/mo, get two original pieces every weekday from some the best writers out there (Anna Merlan, Jazmine Hughes, Hamilton Nolan, John Herrman, Laura June, David Roth, AND MORE). We split the profits and own the copyright. Support the writers and the model! A year after a very intense and destabilizing period, I’m starting to write about it. If you’re an editor interested in the longer version please lmk! Link in bio. Last summer, my brain broke so hard that I heard the voice of God. But weeks before God spoke to me, I heard a buzz. I first heard it late at night, low-frequency, almost a purr. I thought it might be the train that runs a few blocks from my house. But no. It didn’t waver or fade. I turned off the ceiling fan, but that only stilled the air. So, it’s the HVAC, running high to keep the Texas heat at bay. Can’t turn that off. I wasn’t worried. I started to notice the whispery static during the day now, too; it faded when I turned my attention to something else. But at night I was wakeful, agitated. I didn’t know it then, but it would be September before I slept through the night again.

Needed this today: “With no effort on my part, I became aware that to love myself was good and right, as God [spirit of the universe, the AA group, nature, you know, higher power, whatever] had intended. ****My feelings set me free, where my thoughts had held me in bondage. I am grateful.***” “A.A. REGENERATION” June 19 Such is the paradox of A.A. regeneration: strength arising out of complete defeat and weakness, the loss of one’s old life as a condition for finding a new one. A.A. COMES OF AGE, p. 46 A thousand beatings by John Barleycorn did not encourage me to admit defeat. I believed it was my moral obligation to conquer my “enemy-friend.” At my first A.A. meeting I was blessed with a feeling that it was all right to admit defeat to a disease which had nothing to do with my “moral fiber.” I knew instinctively that I was in the presence of a great love when I entered the doors of A.A. With no effort on my part, I became aware that to love myself was good and right, as God had intended. My feelings set me free, where my thoughts had held me in bondage. I am grateful.

Where’s Bram? Where could Bram be?
You always hurt the ones you love.
The inaction figure my office needs.
A real “will-they-or-won’t-they” moment form last year.
