Gratiela Brancusi Instagram – “hey, hey, listen, who’s the director? Ummm, this woman, yes?” with the cadence of someone who just barged into an airport to say one more and perhaps the only thing I needed to hear before getting on a plane to a place I know nothing of. And I’m just about to take my other shoe off and go through a pat down and he got no business being there and he’s about to find out. Close enough.
“Yes. Christina. Christina Voros” I faintly said and before plunging into the rest of the sentence,
“Ok. Listen. You need to keep her. Yeah? That’s what you need to do. She will protect an actor’s performance. She’ll shield and nurture your vulnerability. That’s the most you can ask for as an artist. You hold on to her, yeah?”
All of a sudden, all the Christina stories, just waiting for the slightest air bubble in his urgency to muscle in, dissipated. My heart smiled. He already knew all of them. I knew I was one lucky sumbitch. And I marveled at his intuition. Once again.
Christina is all that and more. The day we shot this scene I will hold in my heart forever and her with it. I could go on and on about her but I’m trying not to be a dork.
