🚨Latest chapter of the Australian climate wars thanks to Peter Dutton and the Coalition. This is a dangerous distraction to delay the transition to clean and cheaper renewable energy and destabilise the economy. There is simply no realistic details on costs (and despite earlier saying it wouldn’t require public funding – it is now to be paid for by public money so Australians are being asked to write a blank cheque and then pay higher energy prices), whilst having no details, no reasonable timeframe. #climateactionnow
The Coalition’s 4 page blurb is not an energy policy. There are no details, no costings, no timelines, no process for community consultation and no information regarding energy output. The Coalition will do anything to sabotage and disrupt the transition to clean renewable energy and keep coal and gas firing! They are still denying the threat of climate change and delaying action.
I welcome @mattkeanmp as the new Climate Change Authority Chair. Matt has shown himself to understand climate change, its risks, the need to reduce emissions and transition our economy to set us up for the future #Auspol
I welcome today’s release of Julian Assange. Whatever your view on his case, it’s dragged on too long & it’s good to see a resolution. Press freedoms & whistleblower protections play an important role in a strong democracy. It’s important we continue to champion these principles. We need stronger whistleblower protections and the government must step in to end the prosecutions of Richard Boyle and David McBride. #julianassange #whistleblowers #whistleblowerreform #democracy
The Coalition’s nuclear “plan” is less policy & more disruption tactic – where the details keep changing purely for political gain. #auspol

🚨Nationals desperately trying to interfere, support misinformation on impacts of off shore wind and slow down the transition to renewables, putting local industries and jobs at risk. #auspol
Chilly morning in Canberra for my morning run! Shoutout to everyone else up and about!💪🥶
❌Dutton’s nuclear fantasy is a disaster for the Aust economy, energy prices & climate action. This is a Trojan horse policy to keep coal and gas firing. The longer we delay sensible action, the more costly this will get‼️ #auspol Full statement at 🔗in bio.
Big week ahead, please look out for email coming shortly or link in bio with information on proposed boundary changes from AEC and how to make a submission to have your views heard.
Back in parliament. Big week ahead debating the Government’s Nature Positive bills. Sadly they don’t go far enough. I have sensible amendments and will be meeting with the Minister today to discuss them. We are in a vital decade to better protect our environment and need stronger legislation. I am also wearing my stripes for climate action as the World is heating up at an alarming rate. Strong climate pollution mitigation policy is vital. That means a strong 2035 emissions reduction target and plans for every sector to decarbonise asap. The Coalition does not have a climate mitigation policy, is simply ignoring the growing risks from climate change and wants to further delay action. We need mature and detailed policy. That’s my focus. They are resorting to name calling because the facts don’t back them up. Don’t be distracted, we CAN do this!⚡️🌎💖#communitiesactnow #climateactionnow #showyourstripes #naturepositive

Australia’s international competitiveness in green industries is crucial. The Future Made in Australia plan is a good start, but more needs to be done. It’s important to also expand support for workers, SMEs, and electrification, ensuring a just transition and seizing opportunities for all Australians in the race to net zero. #GreenEconomy #smallbusinesss #SME #smallbiz
Ending live animal exports is crucial for animal welfare and aligns our practices with countries like the NZ and the UK. It’s good to see that this bill provides both improvements to animal welfare and support for industries who are needing to transition. I will support this bill; but there’s more work to be done to balance animal safety and welfare. #animalsmatter #choosecompassion #banliveexports
I recently spoke to the Getting the NDIS Back on Track bill. At its best, the NDIS has helped people living with a disability to access vital services and support, but it hasn’t worked as well or sustainably as it could which is why reform is required. We need more NDIA services that work for people and make their lives easier – like these successful initiatives from initiatives in Warringah. @onedoormh @northside_enterprise @joeysulfaro @cpalliance @manlyhousegroup #ndisaustralia #ndis #parliamentupdates #warringah

It’s world refugee day! This years theme, “Finding Freedom”, highlights the importance of family and community to the refugee experience. The community refugee sponsorship initative connects refugee newcomers to existing community members, so that they can both support each other in challenging times. Pictured is the Alkhusi’s, a refugee family who were forced to flee Afghanistan, but have found solace and belonging through community sponsorship. In Warringah, we have the @manlygees, a local group of volunteers helping refugee families settle in.
