When just one daycare center closed, it had ripple effects throughout their entire community. The daycare employees lost their jobs. A family with two kids and one more on the way had to cut back hours at work to fill in the gaps. And a small business is now struggling to hire and retain talented staffers who keep losing their child care.
All of this happened after just ONE daycare closed. Now imagine this story happening over and over again, all across the country. Our economy relies on families having affordable, reliable child care. Congress needs to pass President Biden’s supplemental funding request and restore the critical funding that kept these daycares open.

Thousands of children are waiting for loving homes, but too many states allow child welfare agencies to discriminate against LGBTQ foster and adoptive parents. Every child deserves a family. So I introduced a bill to ban discrimination against LGBTQ kids and adoptive parents.
If the Supreme Court really wants to prove that they can be held accountable just like every other jurist in this country, then they need a real, ENFORCEABLE code of ethics. We need to pass the Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency Act.
I agree with Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. This isn’t a victory, it’s a delay. Extreme abortion bans that put women’s lives at risk are still in place — and they can only get the life-saving care they need as long as @joebiden is in the White House to fight for it. If Donald Trump has the chance, he’ll sign a national abortion ban into law and let MAGA states deny women care.

Two years ago today, @joebiden signed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act into law. Thanks to my provision making gun trafficking a federal crime, we’ve already taken 2,700 illegal guns off our streets. Families are safer today because we fought for commonsense gun reforms.
Today is the 55th anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion — a critical turning point in the fight for LGBTQ civil rights and equality. I fought to have Stonewall designated a National Monument, and I’m proud to be returning today for the official opening of the @stonewallvisctr.
