My interview with @senkirstengillibrand on the government shutdown and saving democracy! Adopt a candidate and let’s win the Midterms! #democracy #governmentshutdown #senate #america #kirstengillibrand #letsgo #adopt #midterms
Slashing funding for the NIH will hurt public health, local jobs and our economy as a whole. And I know elected officials from both sides of the aisle agree.
This administration’s recklessness is appalling. Our service members need competent leadership. Their lives depend on it.
Members of Congress shouldn’t be paid while hundreds of thousands of hardworking people are sent home or expected to work without pay. That’s why I’m forgoing my paycheck for this entire shutdown.
Amidst the chaos, we secured two important amendments in this year’s defense bill — my amendment ensuring our military can take down drone incursions and @timkaine’s amendment to repeal the 2002 Iraq War authorization.
Today’s Daily Blessing: NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch and her work to make our subway system safer!
President Trump’s Executive Order to shutdown the Department of Education will have devastating impacts on millions of students that rely on the department for funding. What happens to the K-12 students that need special education programs or the college students counting on receiving their Pell Grants? He’s stealing from our students to fund tax breaks for his billionaire buddies. He has no authority to close an agency without Congressional approval, & we all must fight for our children.
Elon Musk is an unelected, self-interested billionaire with no business anywhere near the Pentagon.
Longer wait times at the VA will delay treatment for the brave men and women who served our country. This administration’s cuts will cost lives.
Today, we mark two years since 1,200 innocent people – including dozens of our fellow Americans – were murdered by Hamas. They were mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, neighbors and friends. I’ve fought every day to help bring the hostages home, and my heart is with the families on this painful anniversary.
If you’re a pregnant woman in this country, there’s a good chance your labor and delivery is covered by Medicaid. If President Trump and the Republican Party continue their attempts to cut Medicaid, how will expecting moms afford the care they need?
How does fueling a hunger epidemic make America great?
After a judge blocked Elon Musk and his team from accessing your sensitive information, the acting head of the Social Security Administration threatened to close the entire agency and stop payments for millions of Americans. This administration’s willingness to play politics with your benefits is shameful.
President Trump is trying to cut your Social Security benefits, and @graceleefornyc and I are fighting back. If you’ve had your benefits interrupted or delayed, share your story and make your voice heard.
Always great to catch up with my friend @real_sharpton in New York City!
This administration is destroying Social Security so they can give tax breaks to Elon Musk and his billionaire buddies.
On our veterans’ toughest days, they depend on VA employees for care and support. Firing the people that step up for our vets is unthinkable. If you or a veteran you know needs help, please dial 988 and press 1 for veteran-specific support.
Planned Parenthood clinics use these funds to offer cancer screenings, infertility services, and birth control options. President Trump and his administration are doing everything they can to get between you and your doctor.
President Trump is mad at Senate Democrats for fighting to lower health care costs, but he’s punishing the American people. This is your money, your taxes. Your community shouldn’t be targeted or punished because your state’s electoral votes didn’t go to President Trump. It’s plain un-American.
The American people can’t afford to pay thousands more for their health insurance. Senate Democrats are fighting to bring down health care costs, but it’s up to Senate Republicans to join us.
I was grateful to join Yale’s Drew Collins on “For the Life of the World” to discuss how my faith informs my public service. To listen to the full podcast, visit https://faith.yale.edu/podcast.
If Congress doesn’t take action, the cost of health care is going to skyrocket. An individual in Clinton County making $65,000/year will pay roughly $6,400 MORE per year for their insurance. It’s time for Republicans to join Democrats and stand up for their constituents. New Yorkers can’t afford to pay even more for their health care.
Make no mistake: raising the retirement age is effectively a cut in Social Security benefits. Commissioner Bisignano’s comments erode trust in Social Security, and our seniors deserve better. The Trump administration is now claiming they won’t push to raise the retirement age, and Senate Democrats are going to hold them to it.
Democrats, Republicans, and Independents all benefit from key Affordable Care Act tax credits. And nearly 80% of the public want us to extend these tax credits. Republicans should be working for YOU, not shutting down the government.
