Yesterday was a historic day for women and girls who face discrimination on the basis of sex. After over 100 years of fighting, we have finally crossed the finish line and enshrined equality for women into the United States Constitution. Pic courtesy of @newsday
Cecile Richards was an incredible leader who fought tirelessly for women’s health and reproductive rights. Her commitment to equality and freedom leaves a lasting legacy that will inspire future generations. Rest in power, Cecile.
Earlier today, the national archivist preemptively stated that she would not legally certify the Equal Rights Amendment as part of the Constitution. By taking this unprecedented step, she is wrongfully inserting herself into a clear constitutional process, though her role is purely ministerial. Our argument has the support of legal experts, twenty-three attorneys general, the League of Women Voters, and the American Bar Association. I remain undaunted, and will continue to urge President Biden to direct the archivist to certify and publish the ERA and codify equality in the Constitution.
Incredibly alarming.
Inexcusable. The House GOP killed a bipartisan budget deal that would have fully funded the World Trade Center Health Program through 2040 to ensure our 9/11 first responders and survivors get the health care they’ve earned and desperately need. @realdonaldtrump, I will introduce a new bill to fully fund the WTC health program on day one of the new Congress. I hope we can count on your help to get it done.
I had a wonderful time last night at the annual Alfafa Club Dinner, and I am honored to serve as president for 2025. It’s a job that comes with no staff, no press and no responsibility. I couldn’t say yes fast enough! Lots of laughs and some unforgettable moments shared with great friends.

Russ Vought is intent on destroying Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. We won’t let him. I voted against him and Senate Democrats are ready for the fight.
I am honored to announce Senators Kelly, Schiff and Blunt Rochester as vice chairs of the @dscc. These senators are seasoned campaigners with proven track records of winning tough races, and their thorough understanding of voters and the electoral landscape will maximize the DSCC’s ability to be successful. I look forward to working alongside them to protect our incumbents, recruit strong challengers, and secure victories for Senate Democrats in 2026.
Today, surrounded by Jonathan, Theo and Henry, I was sworn in to the 119th Congress. Thank you, New Yorkers, for putting your faith in me. Let’s get to work.
Slashing funding to our schools would hurt students, parents and teachers. We’re ready for the fight.
I sat down with @nytimes’ The Daily to discuss why now is our best, last chance to certify and publish the Equal Rights Amendment and codify reproductive rights in the Constitution. Listen at the link in my bio, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Dr. King believed in the power of collective action — of going out into the world to fight for what is right. He knew that even when he faced enormous challenges, that love would someday triumph over hate. Today, we celebrate his legacy, and hold his words more closely than ever.
Some great moments from a packed day in NYC. 1. Joining @real_sharpton and @govkathyhochul at @nationalactionnetwork to honor Dr. Martin Luther King’s legacy 2. Bronx small business roundtable at @sankofahaus 3. Catching up with my good friend @repespaillat

Cutting funding for our schools would hurt students, teachers, and kids with disabilities. It’s unconscionable. We can’t let it happen and I promise I won’t back down from this fight.
Happy holidays! Wishing you love and peace during this blessed time.
Caucus Weekend is one of my favorite events of the year. It’s a great opportunity to see friends and colleagues like @cheastie and @msvanessa77 and to work on helping New Yorkers.

I joined @theleadcnn to discuss recent  drone incursions over the eastern seaboard, today’s horrific school shooting in Wisconsin, and my push to certify and publish the ERA before the next administration takes office. Watch:
