Late night? Early morning? One top, SO much mystery (and one very very wonderful bathroom @petitermitagehotel)
In 2012, Kim Coleman cast me in Da Brick, a pilot that @officialspikelee was directing for HBO. During that shoot, I asked Spike to give me a list of a few of his favorite films: “On The Water Front”, “A Face In The Crowd”, “Night Of The Hunter” and Akira Kurosawa’s “Rashomon” were at the top. Before Spike, I was unfamiliar with Kurosawa, my grandmother would visit NY a few times a year and go to a double feature at Lincoln Plaza Cinema every day she was here but apart from her, film was not a huge part of my experience growing up. To board this reinterpretation of the Brilliant “High and Low” for Apple films and A24, the great Denzel Washington leading our incredible cast, Matthew Libatique behind the lens and Spike at the helm, is a Lee x Kurosawa full circle moment of a dream come true. And we’re off! Gratitude.
