So many times during my pregnancy I walked by the mirror and judged myself on my changing body. The cellulite, the stretch marks, the extra rolls, the overall new roundness I found myself in. For someone who has spent the majority of her adult life working really hard to be a certain ‘size’, as I grew with my baby it stirred up insecurities I thought I’d left behind in high school. But through the love of my husband @camronr and my supportive friends and family I have come to really appreciate this new shape I’m in. It is fertility, it is Mother Earth, it is vitality, it is life. This was me at 6 months, I am so proud of the work my body is doing to bring in my little lady. I urge every pregnant woman to look at her miraculous body and smile. This change is temporary and it is sacred. Oh my how my life has changed in two weeks. A lot less sleep, piles of worry, aches & leaking AND more love than I could even imagine. Thank you to my little bean for making me a mama. 🌱 Also partners don’t get enough credit in these first few weeks postpartum but I’m gonna shout out mine because he has really killed it and usually buys me three extra hours of sleep a night. ❤️

Pfeiffer Bell Robertson Born October 28th ✨ I spent my entire pregnancy preparing for labor and what comes after. I kept my body healthy and my mind clear. I’m so glad I did because her birth was nothing like what I anticipated it would be. Soon to be mamas- you are entering a labyrinth and after creating your perfect plan, it’s best to just embrace the swirling circuity of the path before you. The best thing I was told was to be open to change and oh boy did that help me through a very unique birthing experience. And I did it. I pushed her out and brought her into this world and she is perfect. We are warriors ladies, truly decedents of goddesses. I’m so proud to be the mother of another goddess. I love you with a heart I didn’t know existed Pfeiffer. ❤️
Two years ago today this gorgeous soul agreed to be my husband. I write this while he is currently using a sous vide in our hotel bathroom to make us poached eggs with a salsa verde sauce because he knows I’m freaked by going out to public restaurants during this weird pandemic. This thoughtful, creative, food snob is who I will love for eternity. What lucky ladies baby Robertson and I are. Happy anniversary @camronr ❤️❤️❤️
This post partum experience has been miles different from the first time around. Better. More peaceful. More supported. I can’t express how isolating being a first time parent in a pandemic was. It is only now, thanks to my son for giving me the gift of this experience again, that I truly understand how devastating that period of time was for all of us. I wake up excited to be able to rewrite what babyhood feels like with him. Not fearing what exposure will do. Having friends and family hold him to give me a break. Planning our days around outings for Pfeiffer, outings where we all get to be social, to feel community, to know we are apart of a vibrant and warm fabric of people. It’s still hard, the work of a mother. But man, oh man, is it made easier by the support of the people you love.

It’s been a big week for our little family of four! Please welcome River Bell Robertson. Born on June 18th at home in a slow moving 12 hr labor that morphed into a fast and (DEFINITIVELY) furious 2hrs that brought my boy into the world. An unmedicated home birth experience is not for the faint of heart- but honestly no version of pregnancy and labor is. I honestly can say I would not have made it through without the love and support of my friend and birth doula @mckhuebs who is my literal guardian angel and now (whether she likes it or not) a member of my heart family. And I still thank my lucky stars I met Abby Vidiken @lamidwifeabby who generously gave me the option of a home birth with a midwife despite me thinking that was out of the question for me. We are cocooned in love, breast milk and yellow poo, and oh so many newborn snuggles and stretches. And to River- thank you for completing us my boy. ❤️
