I made this film, FRESH KILLS, for the 25 yr old kid (me) who go destroyed by a powerhouse producer. Thanks to him my career ended then- just when it was starting. It took years to get back on my feet never reclaiming my actual footing. I thank him today as he put a fight in me that would NOT FiNG quit. Fresh KILLS WAS THEN BORN! Walk with me. As so many walk carpets in the Toronto Film Festival with their films, I’m here. They passed. No stars, too small, I don’t think anyone ever watched it at all. Such is life, I guess. This isn’t about glitz, walking carpets and getting my picture taken. I honestly hate all that. This is about justice for a good piece of art. Not judged on fame, money or the status I hold or don’t hold. It pains me to my core for me as the filmmaker, the producer, the actor but more-so , the human. A human who just loved movies as a kid and still tries to. Not gonna lie- it’s getting harder thou. So I’ll be walking, wandering, disappearing into these amazing streets where art, hope and even elephants on 14th street all exist. X Fresh Kills

This journey with FRESH KiLlS has been something. It’s broken me in ways I couldn’t tell you. It’s challenged my very core, soul, what I believe in and everything I thought I understood. It’s also made me even MORE resilient (if that’s possible) more awake and understanding more of how it all REALLY works. What I didn’t expect is that the outpouring of support from people, men and women, for this film, the journey and the fight for a voice was something that mattered so much to you all. The amount of you that have opened up your lives to me and said how deeply FRESH KILLS has touched you, the amount that have championed it with your friends and on social- is seriously beyond anything I could have imagined. You’ve made me understand that I am absolutely not alone in seeing what I’m seeing- that good story IS something that you want- even without “stars”. That seeing yourselves, your families your life in some way reflected back to you is all that’s needed and is missing.
