We’ve been working on our personal home for years and all the little the details we planned in the very beginning are finally coming to life. I got the idea to put a cut-out from the hall to the living room when I saw light do something in a pretty way up there during our initial walk-through of the house over 4 years ago. Super simple to have done and I’m happy to have a little glowing a reminder of our faith in the house 🤍

It’s been a looong time coming but the full house tour of @thelostcottage is up!!! (On our y ou t u be chnl) We filmed it earlier this summer before we moved and we recently said a very bittersweet goodbye to our little slice of heaven in the Outer Banks. We loved every bit of living here and, in the end, made the move due to only having one bedroom for all 5 of the kids and with the two teenage boys getting older/ larger and the little girls still so young, it just didn’t make as much sense as it did when all the kids were little. We thought about adding on another bedroom but it wasn’t a good financial move and the reality was that moving is often cheaper than renovating PLUS we felt that our little surf shack was perfectly complete and charming as it was and we didn’t want to mess with that. We have also learned throughout the years that home is where we land together. We found and moved to another beach place I’ll be sharing soon! TMI for those not interested but it’s a question I’ve been getting asked a lot. 🤍🌊. our morning walk at the meadow 🌿 we’ve had some success with flowers!!! This is a huge undertaking and will take us years (probably our forever) but I am so happy to see all the buzzing bees we have now!! The birds seem to love it too and in the later summer afternoons we love to watch them flock to the new native perennials area we created. Woohoo!! Twilight snapshot of our living room at the meadow… I had a little bit of quiet time there alone earlier this (photoshoot) week before we had to cover it all back up again and am feeling so thankful for how it’s turning out. The craftsmen working in this house are true artists and I just can’t get over it (Thank you CarrMichael Construction!!) Can’t wait to move our family back home. ✨

Despite this first (incredibly calm and peaceful) photograph we’re still in full-blown construction mode… swipe to see where we’re really at 😉 I am so grateful to the incredible and talented (and kind) @carrmichaelconstruction team for getting areas of the house camera-ready for the photoshoot I have this week with @rugs_usa for my newest rug collection. This collection is our best yet and I CANNOT. WAIT. to share it with you!! Looks like rain’s in the forecast and we will be shooting in a literal construction zone but I am so dang excited & grateful 🫶 (ps- I’m not a cake sniffer. Series of Unfortunate Events anyone?? 🤣 )

So excited to finally be able to share this one with you!! The kitchen in our Vienna equestrian property project 🖤 The goal of the project was to de-McMansion the house and give it soul. Our clients now have a vegetable garden and a large, functional workroom of a kitchen to go with it! I love seeing people connect with the earth they’re on and designing homes around that way of living. Oak glass hutches sit atop marble countertops and we employed a mix of metal finishes throughout. Cabinets are the “evermore” from my collection with @uniquekitchensandbaths counter stools are the “revival” from my collection with @woodbridgefurniture | design by us @laurenliessandco | renovation by @carrmichaelconstruction | photo by @helennorman ( next up: the party barn!!) #foxvalefarm
Before & after of the atmospheric little sitting area in one of my favorite bedrooms we’ve ever designed. (Swipe for before) That wall was just begging for a fireplace!! We wanted to introduce that little bit of curve/ romance in the fireplace into an otherwise straight/ square space. We had the windows enlarged and replaced crown molding with reclaimed beams. An antique soft brown velvet daybed keeps the view from the fireplace to the bed (opposite the firepace out of frame) open while providing the coziest reading/ napping spot. We love mixing it up at LLI and so the left fireplace chair is a traditional antique and the right is a modern sculptural MidCentury piece. Heartbroken at the loss of my friend @tracizeller 🤍 Traci is a beautiful soul and was one of the kindest, most fun, supportive, and genuinely good people I’ve ever met. We met in the old school blogging days and it was Traci who showed me around my first High Point Market all those years ago. (Never have I ever had so much fun getting rejected from cool kids’ parties with someone.) Traci loved her family deeply and I’m praying for them and everyone who is missing Traci right now. Heaven has another angel. 🙏
