💭 “The answer must be in the attempt.”💭 The yearning for connection, even in those that deflect and reject it with all their might, is innate in our cellular makeup. Just as the waves must passionately crash against the shore or the leaves must one day kiss the ground in a vulnerable shedding of skin, we too are fated to make contact with another. Our busyness can wall off intimate exchanges and strangle connections of oxygen. Don’t be too busy making a living that you forget to make a life. The thing is, our hearts don’t lie. We cannot fake loneliness or grief we feel from keeping visceral bonding at bay. Beating against natural order is a quick decent into turmoil and exhaustion. Letting fear take the wheel stalls us from relief. We weren’t meant to do life alone. Make the attempt to dive deep into someone’s nuanced raw abyss. Seek to understand not just to be understood. Seek the magic🪄 . You might just find a mirror, a friend, a lover, a teacher, a safe house and a healing space. You might just find magic. You might just find a home. 🫶🏼

I heard Cirque Du Soleil was hiring🤭.. first trapeze class in the books 🤸🏽♀️. I told my self by the end of the year I would do something BIG that I was scared of. Here’s to checking “MASSIVE fear of falling from great heights”off my list. Growing up with crippling anxiety, I tainted many experiences in my childhood and teen years out of sheer panic, worry and doubt. Things I LOVED became a source of angst. I quit things I enjoyed because I was so scared of the lack of control. By the time I hit my late teens/ early twenties, I knew I had to make a change. I finally made a commitment that I was going to make it my mission to do as many things, as often as possible, that scared me. It wouldn’t be until years later it started to sink in how much my life would flourish when I took control of my spiraling mind and just lived my life fully through the fears and stopped putting shackles on my freedom to explore. I pushed past the confines of fear, which is rooted in ego, and pursued a trust within myself that could over ride my sometimes immobilizing panic. I began to accept that things arise that may be nerve wracking, but that doesn’t mean I have to be crippled by them. I remember jumping off of a roof into a pool at 23 with my best friend, counting down from three to “go” – and to her surprise, I took off on TWO. I knew if I waited for one, I wouldn’t do it. That became my slogan, “go on two”, and now I find a thrill in doing stimulating things because I know the feeling and growth I experience coming out the other side. That doesn’t mean the fear doesn’t exist, because I was SHAKING when I stepped on that trapeze platform, but at least it doesn’t stop me. If anything, it almost always makes for a great story! Here’s my invitation to do something you’re scared of, something that you truly want but are all wrapped up in the “what ifs” that you’ve yet to make a move. A deep peace is born when you live through the fullness of feeling instead of running from it. Be it an experience, a conversation, or a new habit, let’s support eachother in living life to the fullest and growing together in trust, courage and experience.

Maintaining flexibility while progressive overload strength training has been a journey and a newfound balance. It’s a drastic increase in focus on it since shifting from only dance and teaching Barre and Pilates. I’m no where near where I used to be, but I see it as a fun new focus on what flexibility and mobility look like at 35. I’ve had many mentors always say to never stop moving, based on their own experience. Many also said if they could go back they would’ve never stopped dancing, stretching, slow movement, mobility, etc., so I’m taking a page out of their book of wisdom and applying it when I can. I’ve never felt stronger or more capable to elevate my mobility and I’m excited to see what this adventure turns in to. Here’s to more days of stretching and free flowing energy through my body. How often do you stretch or do mobility work? In a world that is more static than ever with driving, sitting and immobility, how can you make time to move and as my dad always said “unstick” your body?
