Kimberley Crossman Instagram – About 20 years ago, my real dad moved to Port Douglas in Far North Queensland 🏝️. I would visit most years, and he would take me to Habitat, where my fascination with quirky and curious animals began 🐾🦎. @wildlifehabitat
Habitat is home to TARC (Tropical Animal Rehabilitation Centre), where the incredible team is dedicated to caring for injured or unwell animals in the area. They focus on nursing them back to health and providing long-term care if they can’t be released back into the wild 🐨💚.
Over the past 20 years, I’ve been privileged to go behind the scenes and work with their team of experts who have devoted their lives to helping these amazing creatures. I’ve always felt a strong desire to shine a light on the unique animals that are often feared or overlooked because they don’t look “cute” or “cuddly.” Once you learn a little about them, though, they’re often incredibly lovable and seriously impressive 🐍🦜✨.
This past trip was extra special because I got to share the experience with my dad, stepson, and husband. We essentially became keepers for a day, learning about the fascinating animals we don’t have in New Zealand 🐊🌏.
If you’re planning a trip to Port Douglas, I highly recommend popping in to see the team and experiencing some of the magic for yourself! You won’t regret it 💛🌿.
