Did you know? The train scene in the “Where Do Broken Hearts Go” video was filmed at Newark-Penn Station in New Jersey (Whitney’s hometown). The song was released in February 1988 as the fourth single from Whitney’s second album ‘Whitney.’ It became her 7th consecutive Number One single — setting an all time record which has yet to be broken! On tour, Whitney usually performed the song as part of a medley with some of her other “love” songs. “She gave everything she sang GREAT meaning. She knew what she wanted and she asked me to rewrite the bridge to that song three times in the studio until she was happy enough with one of them to record.” – Songwriter Frank Wildhorn

On November 14, 1995, ‘Waiting to Exhale: Original Soundtrack Album’ was released. Whitney contributed three songs to the soundtrack: #1 Billboard Hot 100 single “Exhale (Shoop Shoop)” along with hits “Count On Me” and “Why Does It Hurt So Bad.” She also personally selected the artists who appeared on the soundtrack, which hit #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The movie opened at #1 in North America and its success sparked a wave of black ensemble films that followed.
Whitney’s only Christmas album “One Wish” was released on this day in 2003. It includes seasonal favorites like “The Christmas Song,” “Cantique De Noël (O Holy Night),” an a cappella rendition of “O Come O Come Emanuel,” and the single “One Wish (For Christmas).” Two of the songs, “Who Would Imagine A King” and “Joy To The World,” were previously featured on The Preacher’s Wife Original Soundtrack. Whitney also recorded a special duet of “Little Drummer Boy” with her daughter Bobbi Kristina. ✨ The album was released on vinyl in 2021. Get it at boutique.whitneyhouston.com — link in bio.
On January 23 1999, the Thunderpuss remix of “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay” hit #1 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart and was a huge club hit that year. 🪩 The song was written by LaShawn Daniels, Rodney Jerkins, Fred Jerkins III, Isaac Phillips, and Toni Estes.
