A very rare ‘we did it’ moment. Wonderful evening performing 2 great poets at the British Library in honour of International Women’s Day. I’ve been lucky enough to work with the team before, but suggested my mum join us too- amazing to see her back on stage and knocking it out of the ballpark at 88. Office clear, photo find. Me cutting my mother’s hair on holiday over a decade ago. I find this photo, for want of a better word, poignant. We were at the same place we’d gone as a family for years, but without my sister Tasha it just wasn’t the same . Today in my office clear I found an album I hadn’t seen in years- me mum Tash pregnant with her 1st child Micheal. It’s quite a bananas photo in a way, we’d dressed up for C’mas sup and look a bit peculiar. I’d shorn all my hair off as it’d been dyed so many different colours with various projects. Mum, who never dressed up ( but perhaps memory fails me) looks ready for a premiere. Then a couple of people posted some photos I’d not seen that look intimate and touching: ma with Tash, me and Ma. I don’t really know why I’m sharing these…maybe because I love seeing other peoples posts of younger selves. Anyway, love to all, we all need it, and need to spread it ♥️

On my way to the ‘Downton Abbey Grand Finale’ the rain was pelting down. It stopped a minute before we arrived. I went with the director Simon Curtis, one of my best and oldest friends ( we met decades ago working in Liverpool fringe theatre). Simon’s wife, the magnificent @elizabeth.mcgov was on Broadway so couldn’t attend. I play a tiny role , horrible woman described as ‘that old hag ‘( but also a bit funny in her preposterousness). Was such a thrill to join the iconic cast and crew, and wonderful to see my brilliant friend at work- humour, inspiration and specificity . A year earlier we were sitting on a pebble beach in the rain with my mum. Bravo DA on your grand finale 👏

3 years on from the start of the war in Ukraine 🇺🇦. Spending time at the British Red Cross community centre in Romania, and meeting the refugees from Ukraine trying to rebuild their lives- hold their children within a safe environment. Enormous trauma and despair – life filled with waiting for news, holding on, and surviving. Living with nerves and heart torn to shreds. Thank Heavens for aid and support @britishredcross #ukraine
