All the years and decades in between were LIVED. Now I get to be this number and investigate how I find it . ‘60 is the new 40’ people say- I say ‘why does it need to be? I did that one 2 decades ago’. ‘Age is just a number ‘ is commonly said , but it’s not . It’s a badge saying I made it to this station on the road. I first met DameJoan Plowright when I was 16 years old, and my sister Natasha was 18 ( lady dressed as an owl…ageless!). My father had invited Joan and family to join us on holiday in France. It was a magical time, full of mischief and high jinx. Joan was bloody brilliant, and matched my father in all shenanigans . I think we even made an am dram black and white film that maybe Richard Olivier ( her son ) has stored in a box somewhere. Many years later I got to work with Joan professionally on Peter Greenaway’s ‘Drowning by Numbers’, and Disney’s ‘101 Dalmatians’. I loved her: warm , down to earth, and full of knowingness . This week we attended her memorial, and I was blown away by her extraordinary career. Mum said “ she re wrote the landscape for our generation of young actresses”. Her family were her everything. When the film premiered my cousin Jemma gave me this mug that has somehow survived all the moves. ‘101 D’s’ was my favourite cartoon growing up, I was obsessed with it, so getting to be a part of Disney’s live action – dream come true. People still talk to me about it, and meet a very aged Anita . I remember the shoot vividly . The bicycle sequence through Hyde Park that took months to film ( we could only work for a few hours on a Sundays ) if you look closely sometimes the trees have leaves, sometimes not. Working with all the puppies and dogs just heavenly ( and sublime Jeff Daniel’s!) 🍂

3 years on from the start of the war in Ukraine 🇺🇦. Spending time at the British Red Cross community centre in Romania, and meeting the refugees from Ukraine trying to rebuild their lives- hold their children within a safe environment. Enormous trauma and despair – life filled with waiting for news, holding on, and surviving. Living with nerves and heart torn to shreds. Thank Heavens for aid and support @britishredcross #ukraine

What a pleasure to share Birthdays with @kittygeywitz . We’ve known each other for 2 decades plus,since meeting in Egypt thanks to @nvwjewel . Who knew then that we’d end up travelling the world and fundraising for @savechildrenuk . Once in Ethiopia visiting women’s centres and hospitals , we got so desperate for a cup of coffee we climbed thru’ a miniature window. We also got to visit the world wonder that is Lalibela ( photo at end)- incredible churches built underground. In Uganda distributing supplies to refugee camps , we got caught in a swarm of locusts. Now you re a wife and mother, and on your birthday you wore your wedding dress by @roksandailincic who happened to be at there and see how gorgeous you looked. Thankyou Kat for extreme and memorable adventures -led to raising great sums of money for children .
