No more metaphor. This isn’t poetry, this is a plea for Gaza. This is solidarity with the brave souls on board @globalsumudflotilla set sail today. This is an appeal to our @uklabour @keirstarmer @david.lammy government and the rest of the Western governing bodies complicit in Gen*cide that could be stopped with a phone call. This is a plea for Sudan and Congo, an acknowledgment of the systems of Empire that are at work in the most violent tandem in our world. Please keep talking about Sudan and Congo. This is for the children and babies. Our children and babies. This is a call for @unitednations meaningful communication, cohesion and action. This is for free speech. Compassion over consumerism in the place where the Christmas story began. “Lullaby for Palestine” is the beautiful and powerful charity single in the race for Christmas number one this year. It features an extraordinary lineup of UK and Palestinian artists including @naibarghoutiofficial, @leighannepinnock, @nenehcherryofficial, @amenaelabd, @bastilledan, @brianeno, @celeste, @kabrunt, @lanalubany, @thelcgc, @mabel, @nadineshah, @suraishungry, @yasmeen.ayyashi, and @ysee_ysee_onlinemusic. The track reimagines the beautiful Palestinian folk song “Yamma Mweel El Hawa,” with original art work from Palestinian artist Malak Mattar. It aims to raise urgent, life-saving funds for children and families in Gaza, still suffering in the wake of a criminally violated Ceasefire and the most horrific living conditions this winter with aid STILL being blocked and babies and children freezing to death in rain water. Over 200,000 people, over half children, have been forced from their homes since the start of December. The DRC has been in a brutal conflict for nearly 3 decades, with armed groups fighting central authorities for power and control over the mineral-rich east part of the country. Civilians are paying the price. The humanitarian situation is horrific. We need urgent global action, NOW. We call on the international community to act. Please share.
