Everyone sounded great that night. We played opposite Santana, and Carlos filmed it. It’s out there somewhere, I’m sure some of you have seen it. —Jack One of the things I love about being home and especially in the summer is being in our garden, and I have much gratitude for the gifts that we receive from it, and good cooking! RIP ❤️ photo: Christopher Nisperos A teaser for tomorrow, really good to play and with these two great musicians, looking forward to it. Hope you can join us for this unusual event. This will be live and it will be up for three days after. This period for me has been a time of deep reflection of who I am becoming as a person outside of music. Being home this long without working has given me that opportunity. Self reflection can be tough and am looking at things in myself that I have deep regrets about. This period is giving me the opportunity to hopefully grow and change the things I don’t like about myself and become a better person who has something positive to contribute to this world besides music. Don’t get me wrong, I am truly grateful for all music has given to me, absolutely no regrets. This is the time of changes, many choices are being made now, we can only trust that the future will become a better place for all. —Jack Now for something completely different, John medeski and I doing Dylan for the Bardavon in Poughkeepsie, great venue. I enjoyed his playing so much that I hired him for a piano trio gig I did in Greenwich Village back in the day, I think the club was called Lush Life, Eddie Gomez on bass. We had a great time and a lot of fun. He really gave back to the community, and was a respected educator. In gratitude, RIP. -Jack Full Disclosure, My wife Lydia is the gardener. I help with watering and weeding but I love being in it and love helping. Foods great too! —Jack How great, two of my favorite bass players in one week. We visited with Gary Peacock and his great family, always good to see everyone. Along the theme of great bass players, yesterday Lydia and I ran masked into our good friend and neighbor Steve Swallow. Really good to see him and know that he and Carla are doing well. Gratitude for having these great musicians in my life. —Jack That was a lot of fun last Saturday playing with Matt Garrison and Don Byron, felt almost normal except I was playing from our deck and didn’t have to get on a plane. Thank you to everyone who streamed, it was a great turnout, and the neighborhood got to enjoy it too, not sure about the bears they seem to be pickier. I’d like to thank ShapeShifter Lab for putting this together, you folks, Matt and Fortuna, were great and made it so easy. I’d also like to thank Tom Beaujour, Craig Santiago, and Julian Briones for your help, you guys were a pleasure to work with.
