About 14 and a half years ago, I was working on a new TV show that wasn’t on the air yet. I was almost 14 years old and on my first day of work with my new co-star, I was experiencing my first kiss in front of my dad. Nobody really knew either of us at that time, but most of the world knows who he is now. How fitting that his birthday this year falls on Throwback Thursday? Happy birthday to the megastar, Mr. @zacefron , whom I will always picture at this stage of our lives. Happy #TBT to the rest of the world for stumbling across this photo 😉

I’m giving into my love of games…. I’m terrible at them, but I love them. My friend @d_peach3z convinced me to stream with him for Sunday Funday! Miss Java Bean was another favorite of mine at the Maryland Zoo. Yes, I work with goats that I loved and I really missed them. However, there is something magical meeting new animals. She leaned into my hand that was giving her neck scratches and was snoring. 13/10, would definitely do this again. And while I didn’t get a good picture, the last animal that left a mark on me was a total surprise. It was a pretty cold and gloomy day when we went to the zoo and I didn’t think they would have any animals in their Animal Encounter area. But as we were leaving, Sprint, an Indian running duck, started calling me to me as soon as I started to walk over. Really, she was making the most adorable quacks. She kept shaking her tail for me and trying to pull up grass to give me. I may have already tried to convince the people at work that we need runner ducks….

I really wish I knew how to make animals live forever. Losing them is never easy, but some hurt a lot more than others. I used to be shocked when keepers told me they could tell all 15 sheep apart from each other when I first started at CS over 7 years ago. Now, going thru old photos, I can tell by an ear who is who. Blanche always was a favorite, even before I got to train her. Someone once said she looked like a “toasted marshmallow” and I never her saw her the same way again. Her first trainer taught her almost everything she knew, but I loved working with her bow so she would do it when I curtsied. I will have her “baaaa” forever engrained in my memory. And while she would get excited to see me, her first love was always Julie, and I am beyond thankful we got to share her. Thanks for always being a bright spot in my day, Ms. Blanche.

I went to the Maryland Zoo back in October when I was there for a wedding. I said I would spend 2 hours there….. I ended up peeling myself away after 4 hours. I fell in love with many of the animals, but Lloyd the miniature donkey was probably my favorite. I spent at least 30 minutes petting him on at least 3 separate occasions that day. @marylandzoo just did a Super Bowl pick with them and Lloyd chose the Rams to win, so that’s who I’ll be rooting for on Sunday.
Despite having “baker” in my last name, I’m not very good at baking. It always takes me so long (about 6 hours to make these, not including the decoration) and they’re usually either under or over done. But these turned out so well!! My friend and I did these for our coworkers. Feel free to compare to our cookies from January 2016. I’d say our skills have gotten better. And the taste was fantastic! The icing consistency needed some work and didn’t have enough flavor, for my preferences. But it was good to sit, chat, and decorate our feelings.
