On my travels to Pakistan, I encountered this kindred spirit. I’ve been studying horses and their movements for about a year, as part of an acting exercise. As we were setting up for a movie shot, I kept on escaping to spend time with Dudu. Yep, that’s him, the charming ivory horse who I met at the French Beach in Karachi. I mean, he did greet me by peeing beside my feet, but aside from that… ha!…very charming. He’s so beautiful he doesn’t look real. It is an animal close to my heart and seems to keep reappearing in my life – and Pakistan has so much respect for these animals. They’re everywhere: groomed, celebrated, clothed and deeply loved like family. Love you Dudu. Love all the horses. Succession is coming out in a few days and I can’t wait. Hands down one of the best shows out there with ensemble acting and comedy I revere. I’ll be sitting on my sofa this Sunday watching with my dill pickle chips!

Last year, I visited my former high school drama teacher’s classroom to talk about acting. After class finished, a young 16 year old girl came up to me and wanted to keep talking. She was so excited about art, life, and activism. I turned to my former teacher and asked, “Who is she?” “Well that’s Jade,” she said. “Oh, and she’s a brilliant rap artist.” I am sharing a piece written, performed and edited for a school project about Black History Month by this very talented young artist. The hotel connected me with a driver, who so openheartedly showed me around a few spots of Turkey. Neither of us spoke the same language. We used Google Translate and bonded over baklava, and a few words in both our mother tongues we discovered were the same. I love traveling. I love meeting people around the world, who maybe l’ll only meet once, but I’ll remember for a lifetime.

I’m always flabbergasted that I’m part of this insanely talented village of artists. 🌿 REPOST @gracemoonarts LITTLE WARS • SHORT FILM SERIES: HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS Introducing the 30 minute single-take short film series LITTLE WARS, written and directed by Michèle Lonsdale•Smith. Created, developed, and produced by Gracemoon Motion Pictures. Cinematography and postproduction by @randallmross LITTLE WARS is a mosaic of intertwining lives and each character tells a unique but ultimately universal story. These are not wars between countries for oil or land, but wars between human hearts. Wars of loneliness and desire. Wars of empathy and envy. Wars fought in minds and moments. The little wars. The seemingly insignificant battles within, the duality of who we really are, and the lies we build and tell. The “HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS” instalment of the series is the story of Rayna, @andrea_cart a University Teaching Assistant who on the day that she is fired for discussing race from a feminist and sexuality point of view in her classroom, she confronts her police boyfriend @jorisjarsky about their increasingly unfulfilling relationship. Making stuff takes a village. We’re thankful and excited to begin releasing this single-take short film series made by the Gracemoon Arts village. Unlike most other series production, this one was created, developed, acted, produced, post produced, and every department crewed entirely by our company members. Full episodes will be released this Spring on our Youtube channel.
