Caveat to this brilliant must-see guide to Indian Weddings: I love aunties and uncles.. anyone who know knows me knows that I will willingly sit on that table and get lost in the parables of their adventurous exploits. Because our elders too are not a monolith. ❤️🙏🏽 Also: oxymoron or tautology – you decide 🤷🏽♀️ Moving and shaking 💃🏽🧂 I’ve travelled the world and been in some pretty spectacular rooms, but as an Indian-Australian woman, entering the guided edifices of popular Australian screen culture spaces has always felt a little elusive. Maybe because it wasn’t a screen where I saw myself at all reflected growing up – I was one of its ‘others’. But on Sunday night during Australian TV’s ‘night of nights’, I felt happy & curious to be in that room, to feel surrounded by many wondrous and talented humans, to sit with my colleagues & to answer some of the questions that inner child Pallu has pondered about belonging on this great land. Come fly on the wall with me as I get ready for the Lo-guys. Also big shout out to my sister who received the award for Most Outstanding Supporting Actress – the iconic Brook Satchwell. 🎥 @dilpreettaggar It’s been quite a journey from the suburbs of Melbourne, to the bustle of Bombay, to now sitting comfortably in the liminal spaces of Australian identity consciousness and storytelling. It is my hope that this appointment will be a pivotal pitstop in the journey of building and healing storytelling pathways. Thank you for your trust & leadership @tony_burke_au and for initiating the vital cultural policy that this nation has been waiting for.
