People think I’m weird. I think I just love food! Also, same shirt different days. I’m a “wear the same outfit till it stinks” kind of gal. #piggypiggypiggy

This is regularly how I gaze at my fellow @gracemoonarts company member Hamza Haq, with love, and in awe, simultaneously brainstorming ways to annoy him. And we got to do a movie together 🤎 Happy TIFF opening to #thequeenofmydreams and to a king, @hmzlhq.
One of my favourite plays is Modigliani, by Dennis McIntyre, based on the brilliant painter who painted his muse Beatrice. I found one of his paintings in Switzerland and I fangirled. And of course, his painting was placed right beside one of Picasso’s, who he was always competing with. Hopefully, they’re laughing in their graves?

Happy Asian American Month, lovebugs. I think we are all in a way expressions of our histories. I wanted to share the pieces of history made in the last couple years, inspiring the artist I am today and working to be tomorrow. First up: Everything Everywhere All At Once My now, fav movie 😌. Okay fine, it’s tied with Elf. Movie Poster: Désirée Kelly @desireekellyart Collage Graphics Design: Wilson Huynh @wingwilly

Been thinking ‘bout this monologue for weeks. Play: Spike Heels By: Theresa Rebeck

I wanted to share the pieces of Asian and Asian-American history made in the last couple years, inspiring the artist I am today and working to be tomorrow. Fifth up. My father. A man who taught me discipline, hard work, and smart work. He raised me with the importance of cultivating my intelligence as a woman. As a man surrounded by siblings who didn’t encourage that in themselves or their own daughters, he was an anomaly. Thank you for being ‘that rebel’, leading in the celebration of daughters. Bottom Left: My father 😌 Art: Amandeep Singh @inquisitive Collage Graphics Design: Wilson Huynh @wingwilly

Hamz. 🤎 @hmzlhq My first scene partner at the #LS&Co. acting school, and now co-leading our first movie of many together. My friend, South Asian brother and ally, who has always been a call away in every success and adversity. An exceptional leader, annoyingly brilliant actor, leading by example, and one of the few people in my life encouraging me to rise with him. I couldn’t celebrate you enough. The stories I’ve heard about my fellow colleagues fighting for this film to be aired nationally in Pakistan and in the world has been inspiring. 7th up. Wilson Huynh 😌🤎 @wingwilly A brilliant photographer, graphics designer, painter, actor – and the creative behind the collage. When we first started on this collage, I told Wilson that I wanted to create something celebrating Asians with art and story as a vehicle. We decided to focus on the beauty of all the Asian art, people, and movements being shut down by the hand of oppression, taking inspiration from the Basquiat collage style. I wanted my mother’s light to be greater than the hand of oppression, because she and other mother figures in my life have always been the image in my mind as I’ve fought back in my own life. Cheers to the power of mother. Thank you Wilson, for creating this piece. …………………………………………………………………… Happy Asian American Month, lovebugs. I think we are all, in a way, expressions of our histories. I wanted to share the pieces of Asian and Asian-American history made in the last couple years, inspiring the artist I am today and working to be tomorrow. Fourth Up. Farmers Protest Growing up, I would hear stories of Sikh warriors and Gurus who continuously fought, died, sacrificed for justice in the face of monarchial oppression. The oppression scared me but their brave, fighting spirit made me proud. This spirit persists as I watched with pride my community of Punjabi farmers, led by Sikhs in unity with Muslim and Hindu farmers, fighting against capitalism during the Farmers Protest. I am proud to be the daughter of farmers. The daughter of a culture that sacrificially puts food on tables around the world and militantly, lovingly fights for justice. Heading to Italy to work with some of my favourite Italian actors and learning the Vow in Italian! How am I only on Chapter 3 on Duo Lingo 🤦 The same way engineers and doctors have a vow, I think the artists vow is a responsibility as well – and our vow is to the truth.
