First race at ‘The Green Hell’. Walking away with a class win, a surprisingly heavy bag of meat, and very wide eyes! Getting your Permit for the infamous Nordschleife circuit isn’t a simple one, for good reason. You need to take a series of theory and practical courses, before accumulating 18 race laps in the lower powered classes, like the one I raced here, snappily named VF2-FWD. There are an absolute litany of classes here (see my meme), but ours is basically a stripped-out road car with slicks. This means it’s actually harder to drive than a full blown GT3 racer, lift-off oversteer is real. 😅 I was lucky to be with people who know what they’re doing, @walkenhorstmotorsport, and my teammates @baileyvoisin and @manuel_maldonado33. I did the first half of our 4hr race, and my gosh the things I saw… 😂 As well as epic slipstream battles on the 2.5km Döttinger straight, I drove with my eyes in the mirror as faster cars sailed past at impossible speeds for my poor little Hyundai, drove past flatbed trucks on their way to recover cars that had crashed somewhere on this mammoth 21km ‘track’ and scared myself silly a few times when the already-close barriers starting inching closer… I somehow (genuinely, no idea how) got us from P4 in class to the lead at the halfway mark. My teammates finished it off to take a win on my first attempt at the Nordschleife! I should really walk away now with the 100% record 😂 I’ll be back next year to get my remaining laps, for now though attention goes back to our regular schedule with Petit Le Mans next week…

2023 IMSA GTP Champions, in the Overall, Endurance, and Manufacturer’s titles. Clean sweep. 🏆🏆🏆 In typical IMSA style, we lost the race and title about 6 times and then won it back 6 times 😂 A topsy-turvy 10 hours, we were constantly fighting different cars for seemingly championship-winning positions, whether it was the #10 Acura, the #6 or #7 Porsche, the #25 BMW… Everyone had a moment when it looked like it was going their way. Early on we had setbacks, with a collision in pitlane giving us damage to repair and a penalty for running the red light at pit exit. We went a lap down, which could’ve been the end of our hopes, but we pulled it back on a caution and slowly worked our way back to the front. Alexander pulled an absolutely mammoth stint in the middle of the race, so much so we had to pit him to stop him exceeding the 4 hour drive time limit!! I got in with just over half the race to go and spent most of my triple stint battling with the #10 on track supremacy, something that could’ve been vital going into the final portion of the race. We swapped back and forth as we blitzed through traffic, and I can say it was one of the most intense races I’ve ever had as I pulled out all the stops to race them. I came in with an hour and a half to go ahead of them, but behind the #01 Caddy, so a championship winning position. Not saying much, as things would turn upside down a few more times over before the race end! Pipo raced his heart out, and made sure he fought off the challenges of others as well as passing the BMWs at the end to ensure we had the points we needed. Just a thrilling race from start to finish, and fitting that all 3 of us had to pull absolutely huge efforts to get it done, not to mention the entire @whelenmotorsports and @cadillacvseries crew. They sacrificed so much over the last 18 months, and this is a fantastic reward that I’m happy to have played a part in helping. And a mention to our rivals, who pushed us all the way. #BeIconic #CadillacRacing @bcpix 📷

DTM 2023 is done, but not before battles so close that I burnt my Ferrari’s nose on our rivals exhaust pipes!🧯 This weekend was typical GT3 wheel-to-wheel action, which Hockenheim always caters to quite well. We suffered a lot in the very sharp, low speed hairpins, but were quick elsewhere on the lap which made for pretty dynamic racing. I took to the grass more than a few times, not for fun, but because our overtaking options were so limited. But I love that kind of problem solving in the car! The results were just ‘ok’, a 7th and a 10th, but the way we achieved them was simply lovely as some say. And a big congratulations to the @emil_frey_racing pit crew, who not only set the fastest pitstop of the year this weekend, but were crowned Pitstop Challenge champions in their debut year! 🙌🏼 Many of you have already asked about next year, and I would love to return. It depends on a few things, but keep an eye out for news soon. ☺️
If I don’t have much road left to play with, I’m forced to get creative. More than your fair share of action in Race 1 🫣
