Historically Black colleges and universities and their alums shape culture, transform politics, and empower people. I am honored to serve in an Administration that supports and invests in our nation’s HBCUs. We at HUD proudly partner with HBCUs to conduct innovative research on housing and economic development in underserved communities through our HBCU Research Centers of Excellence. Earlier this year, HUD awarded $5.5 million to establish and bolster existing centers. #HBCUWeek
We at HUD are committed to ensuring that those who experience domestic violence or gender-based violence have immediate access to safe and affordable housing, and the Violence Against Women Act helps us to do just that. #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth
It was my honor to attend this year’s @cbcfinc Divine 9 Town Hall today. As former National President and a proud member of @dstinc1913, I had the pleasure of emphasizing the collective power of the Divine 9 sororities and fraternities. #CBCF #ALC52

I had the pleasure of meeting Queen, a HUD-assisted resident who benefits from the Affordable Connectivity Program while I was in Seattle last week. We in the Biden-Harris Administration are working hard to ensure all recipients of HUD assistance can access free or low-cost high-speed internet just like Queen. Go to getinternet.gov to apply today.

HUD is building more accessible pathways to homeownership and generational wealth under the Biden-Harris Administration. We changed how student loan debt is calculated so more people can qualify for federally insured mortgages—and ultimately realize their dream of owning a home.
From Day One, the Biden-Harris Administration has pursued policies that are helping bring people home—and we’re making progress. We’re helping people of low means access housing. We’re addressing homelessness with urgency. And we’re working to build homes people can afford.
The Biden-Harris Administration is committed to connecting everyone in America to reliable, affordable, high-speed internet by the end of the decade. Millions of Americans, including HUD-assisted residents, can sign up now for free or subsidized internet access. Go to getinternet.gov for more information.
Since day one, the Biden-Harris Administration has been committed to boosting homeownership for communities of color. It was great to join @repcleaver and many other leaders to discuss how we can work together to expand opportunities so all who call this nation home can thrive.

It was great to join housing leaders in Baton Rouge, LA today for the Louisiana Housing Conference. Every day, HUD works to help people access and stay in housing they can afford—and we are dedicated to partnering with local leaders to build more pathways to affordable housing.

As a part of @POTUS’s historic investment in climate resiliency, HUD is building a more equitable and sustainable housing system. Through the Green and Resilient Retrofit Program, today HUD announced $18 million in awards to make upgrades to multifamily housing properties, like adding solar panels, updating heating and cooling, and replacing windows—with more funding to come in 2023 and 2024. No one should be left behind in the transition to a more sustainable nation.
The Biden-Harris Administration believes we have a responsibility to help Native Americans thrive—and that includes access to quality, affordable housing. At HUD, we are continuing to invest in expanding opportunity and affordable homes in Tribal communities across the country.
While in Kenai, Alaska, I was honored to announce that HUD awarded $128 million to support affordable housing in Tribal communities. These awards provide American Indian and Alaska Native communities with funding to address challenges in ways that best serve their Tribes.
I offer my sincere condolences to the family, friends, and staff of Senator Dianne Feinstein. I pray her community finds comfort in our collective mourning, and strength in the legacy she leaves behind.
For the final week of the August 2023 #hudontheroad, my team and I were across the country to let people know about the HUD resources and programs that make homeownership more attainable for all—especially those who have historically been left behind.
Today marks the 22nd anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks, which led to nearly 3,000 deaths and changed our nation forever. When I reflect on what this day signifies, to me, it is a true mark of American resilience, and the power in community. Today, and every day, let us honor the memory of lives lost through our commitment to service and to the betterment of our community.
Indigenous Peoples’ Day gives us an opportunity to recognize the history, culture, and traditions of the Indigenous peoples of the country we call home. Today and every day, HUD will continue to respect and support Tribal Nations so that all indigenous people can thrive. #IndigenousPeoplesDay
Happy #HispanicHeritageMonth! The vital contributions of Latino communities extend to every corner of our society—including here at HUD. The Biden-Harris Administration is committed to uplifting the heritage, culture, and achievements of the Latino community every day.
The Biden-Harris Administration is committed to investing in Americans at every stage of life and working hard to make sure older adults have the resources they need to stay housed and safe. That is why today, HUD awarded $160.1 million to create and preserve affordable housing for low-income seniors. Visit the link in bio to find the full press release.
Last year, @POTUS made the largest climate investment in our nation’s history—the #InflationReductionAct. Today, HUD launches a tool to help HUD-assisted communities easily access funding opportunities from this investment.
In June, @hudgov hosted a house party on the National Mall to show people that homeownership is attainable—and now our HUD team is taking HUD house parties to communities across the country. I’m so pleased so many people have joined us to start their journey toward homeownership.
