In 2019 the tories announced an end to rough sleeping by 2024. The reality is it’s up by 74% since 2010.
Last week Suella Braverman announced plans to make police take homeless peoples tents from them. Around 300 rough sleepers out of an approximate 3070 people are children.
Sunak refused to rule out the plans as well.

Remember when the bankers caused the global financial crash? That happened because their bonuses encouraged risky trading practices.
What then happened was, like so much of our economy, the risks were socialised (meaning we all paid for it) where as the benefits were privatised. We are still (in the UK at least) living with the effect of that. This year the Tories have tabled and voted for uncapping Bankers bonuses. Entirely the thing that led to those risky practices.
We also found out that over a million kids are living in destitution.

We found out this year about over 100 schools being a threat to life. They’ve known this for years but instead of using our money for fixing schools they bough fancy new chairs and carpets for the department of education. Must be nice

Hello! We’ve had the biggest fall in living standards since the napoleonic war. That’s wild isn’t it? To address that we could feed all primary school children for around 2.5 billion a year. That’s a heck of a lot but when you put it into perspective of how much say test and trace cost (estimated around 29.5 billion over its life) it pales into insignificance. Especially when you consider the long term benefits.
Primary school age children in London will receive it, and I’m glad. What is infuriating is that once again we have a two tier system where some get and some don’t based on postcodes. All children could and should be fed, the maths and long term outcomes make it make sense. We know that children who are fed do better and those who are hungry do worse.

Hello loves! Sure start centres have led to better health outcomes for children, they’ve also helped the life chances of some other demographics. The tories have closed 1,416 centres since 2010. That doesn’t take into account other spaces that also supported their work which because of austerity have now closed.
In the week where bankers bonus’s have stopped being capped (at up to twice their salary) we found out that over a million children were left destitute. A tripling in just over 5 years.

What a load of old S###
Our waterways have been polluted by our water companies with over 775k discharges of raw sewage, that’s over 5.7 million hours of the proverbial being dropped into our rivers, seas, beaches and waterways.
292 Tory MPs voted to allow them to continue to do this until 2038. There is a target to reduce this by 80% but we all know a target does not mean much when there’s no way to enforce it. That would also still be over a million hours of raw sewage being dumped into our rivers.
These dumps make people sick that’s obvious but they also kill the rivers through nitrification which leaches the oxygen out of the water killing fish and plant life.

Testing cosmetics on animals has been banned in the #uk since 1998 following pressure from @thebodyshop @crueltyfreeintl and huge public support, but, this year it has come to light that the Home Office silently changed its policy and has been issuing licences since 2019.
Globally over 500k animals may be used in testing each year, that’s despite the fact that non-animal testing is often; more effective, more reliable and faster.

Went to see this brilliant show Vampire Rock @stevesteinmanproductions this week! Amazing vocals and staging for some classics rock at #bonusarenahull
I had a cracking time, I love classic rock so it was fun to be in a room with so many fans and to see the music really done justice! The band and orchestra are 💯 with all the vocalists really smashing it. I went because the incredible @thenathanjames was performing as part of the show and left a fan of everyone.
