Today was a very special day because we got to celebrate our precious god-son’s first birthday !! He has brought an immeasurable amount of joy to our family and to all he encounters . It’s been a delight to cheer @zandymowry and @taviordontaemowry on as they do an incredible job parenting this precious boy.
We’ll be cheering you on forever , Tri!! AND, while I was so excited about celebrating Triumph , which we did about a week late, I totally missed @zandymowry’s b.day yesterday. This woman is faithful and strong and wise and fun and talented and cool and full of truth and light , and I’ll never be the same because I know her and have the privilege of calling her a friend . I close this video with a “Bailey tree” that we found on a winter walk. We wanted to find a tree that we could visit any time we miss Bailey and on the anniversary of her home-going every year . The kids found it quickly! “Mom! It’s perfect . It’s HUGE!! Just like Bailey’s heart.” She really was something special , y’all.
We just celebrated her life this weekend in New Jersey with family and friends, and it was a beautiful service and time together. We’ll miss you all of our days , Bailey. We love you so.

Today , Feb 4th, is World Cancer Day, and every dollar you donate will be doubled!! Please give generously to support this wonderful cause. Her Cycle for Survival team raised the most money of any individual team EVER last year , over one million dollars ! Let’s do it again , y’all! Her light and fight will live on in all of us .
I can tell you this. I have spent a whole lot of time trying to lean on my own understanding in my life. I’ve also tried leaning on the Lord, and trusting Him even when my eyes and my mind can’t make sense of what is going on in my life or around me, and I never regret the time I spend acknowledging Him. I used to think this verse meant that if I prayed and acknowledged God in my messes, it would make everything work out exactly like I wanted it to. I know that’s not true now, but I also know that He is a way-maker. I’ve seen him show up in the most dire and dark circumstances to make a way from hopelessness to hope, from darkness to light, from fear to peace. Lord, help me to continue to acknowledge you in all my moments, so that whatever I’m facing can be eclipsed by Your deep love for me.

Waiting can be one of the hardest things in the world. It can stir up a deep restlessness in us that is hard to overcome. But God tells us to be strong and take heart in the waiting, because ultimately, we are waiting on Him and his promises. And there is no one more trustworthy or more faithful who is worth waiting for.

It is a true gift when you have a sister who is also your friend, and I’ve now got lots of them (@sarahbann @trazodesign @kristiesholcomb and soon to be @instagracelyn !!) , but first and forever , @carlybannister is my answered prayer, gift from God, sister-friend.
She started off as an answer to my 4-10yr old prayers for a sister . I LOVE my brothers , but I also kept asking God to also give me a sister , and while my parents were NOT planning on having a 5th kid , God was kind to all of us and gave us Carly.
She has always been evidence of God’s goodness and joy to me , and I have missed her like crazy, so when we figured out we were gonna miss each other by 2 hours on flights through Vegas (neither of us with plans to go to the Super Bowl FYI, but GO sports!) , we obviously changed our flights to the earliest possible hour and spent the day together .
It’s SO good to be with one of your best friends , especially when you have not been able to see each other b/c you now live on dif sides of the country . I say all of this to encourage you to make plans to see the ones you love if you can. I’ll hold our sunshine drenched hike in The Valley of Fire State Park and the car ride in my heart for a very long time . Love you, Carly.
