Its role is to advise the government on national research and innovation strategies, and ways to strengthen Singapore’s innovation and technology translation capabilities. This has enabled Singapore to seize opportunities and create new solutions for global challenges. Religious leaders play an important role in engaging communities and building bridges between the different religious groups in Singapore. Glad to have an opportunity to catch up with some of them when I visited Masjid Ba’alwie yesterday. Built in 1952 by an Imam from the Al-Attas family, the mosque is home to a “mini-museum” of religious artefacts and texts, not just from Islam but also all other major faiths. The fact that texts and artefacts from diverse religions can all be displayed together in the mosque is a wonderful example of the inter-religious friendship and cooperation we enjoy here. We must work hard to strengthen religious harmony in Singapore. Religious leaders, like those from @iro.sg, are key to maintaining trust and respect between the different groups. Pleased to call on Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during his State Visit to Singapore. He is an old friend of Singapore and we had good discussions when we last met in 2019, on the sidelines of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council Meeting in Armenia. Singapore shares warm relations with Kazakhstan and we have exchanged many high-level visits over the years. Kazakhstan is our largest trading partner in Central Asia, and President Tokayev and I discussed opportunities for both our countries to do more together for our mutual benefit. We may be geographically distant, but we share common interests, particularly in promoting connectivity and supply chain resilience.
