This mysterious Japanese train station is 230 feet (70m) under a mountain, 486 steps to the surface, no elevator! It’s a hike, try commuting everyday! Doai Station on the Joetsu Line is quite an experience, a real adventure.
These students I taught would be 35 years old now! I often wonder how my former students from Okazaki 愛知県岡崎市are doing. Teaching English in Japan is the gateway to working here for most English speakers, Americans. I came in ‘98 and taught for 7 years – on and off – backpacking the world between contracts, returning to save up again. 10 years before YouTube! (What a shame 😂) I got to live in 16 different Japanese cities and also see 80 countries as a backpacker during this time. Life is an adventure – what’s the next adventure for you?
YouTube FanFest “1 Million Subscriber Award” event was pretty incredible, the only non-Japanese creator there and an honor to receive it from @hikakin — one day I’ll be back there again with even more excitement! If you can see it, believe in it — and it can be done ٩(^‿^)۶ @youtube

“You are part of the problem” 🗻📸🎌🤳 to the many commenters on my YouTube live stream stating I shouldn’t be covering this Lawson-Fuji tourist photo spot, I got it. I found another one 15 min away from the *original* MtFuji-Lawson store near Kawaguchiko Station. I was getting a coffee on the way to Fujiyoshida and saw the crowd … this one has a better view! And buses stopping! The “crisis” has moved 1.4km or a mile to the west 😂 I refuse to tell you exactly where. I want to be part of the solution! Please do not ask me where 🤐 #lawson #mtfuji #mtfujiphoto_ig

It’s hard not to smile when Tokyo’s looking like this, 100% fully bloomed Cherry Blossoms 🌸 with a 3 year old who loves silly faces, it’s hard to know when he’s really smiling, but today maybe a little easier. The Sakura should be around for a few more days, weather permitting. After the first rain or wind, they usually blow away — and you can catch them again 100km north as they start to bloom up in Tohoku or in the mountains of Nagano. Is the spring better than the fall? I’d say so. Longer days are here again ☀️ and the warmer weather, soon enough.

5.3 Million Blue Flowers, Nemophilia or baby blue-eyes, bloom in Hitachi, Japan creating a surreal scene that follows the beauty of the Cherry Blossom season so perfectly. Hitachi Seaside Park created this in 2001 and it’s been a hit with visitors! 90 min north of Tokyo, it’s time to get out of the city. When? Mid April to Early May 🤩 Entry is ¥800 or about $5 #hitachiseasidepark #blueflowers #japan #nemophilia
The Fujisan Yumeno Bridge in Fuji City, a 25 min walk from Shin-Fuji Station (Shinkansen) or 7 min bicycle ride, rentals are ¥200 ($1.40) for the day from the tourist office inside the station 🚉 no one there when I arrived at 9am, small groups came by taxi the next 2 hours 😂 a few people walked. Some total divas! Most polite, for a photo and moved on — so, worth the visit? It takes 1 hour 15 min from Tokyo Station to get here. For me, I’d say … #fujisteps #fujicity #mtfuji

Trevor & Ting, come back again soon ❤️ – message from the master! ^_^ who wants a bowl? Closes right after lunch, made fresh every morning at 5am.

Tokyo: The first wind and rain after full bloom usually means the end of the Cherry Blossom season in the capital. Sure, some late bloomers remain, a few trees will have blossoms for a week more, but it is all down hill for them — unless you go uphill! News reports that the blossoms move north 20km / day so up in Fukushima and Yamagata, it’s just starting! And at elevation like Mt Takao and Okuyama in Tokyo 😉
