This was 💯 NOT my idea but I hope when you get the chance to sing Breaking Free with @drewseeley you jump at it. Singing on stage with a band full of LAs most talented musicians (including the ever encouraging @jonnyflaugher cool cat @adamzimmon) and alongside the pro that is my husband is intimidating to say the least. The calm and supportive vibe of our wonderful community made me forget my nerves and just enjoy the experience. I’ve learned that audiences don’t want perfection from their leaders, their teachers, or their entertainers. They simply want confidence, zest and a whole lot of heart. When you let yourself go and show up in the moment, you can’t go wrong. Don’t ever let fear stop you from living your wildest, boldest, biggest dreams. It’s all for you, Ember. I hope seeing mom and dad rock out inspires you to follow your own bliss and creativity. I can’t wait to see where it takes you. There’s not a star in heaven that you can’t reach ✨🪁🪽 Thank you to @shannonraefincke @withjoshskinner for filming and capturing this special performance 🫶🏻 #breakingfree #duet #highschoolmusical #hsm #coop #leadership #entertainers

And just like that our little girl is off to Kindergarten 🎓 Ember isn’t the only one navigating big feelings about this change. It’s been a super emotional week as we all traverse the transition from our cozy little co-op to the behemoth that is LAUSD. Embracing the next chapter with courage and excitement and accepting the sadness that comes with leaving behind the safety and security of a community we love so much. Looking forward to nurturing the lifelong friendships we’ve all been so privileged to make as well as the new ones that will undoubtedly come along on our sweet girl’s educational journey. Make new friends but keep the old, one is silver and the other is gold. A circle’s round, it has no end, that’s how long I want to be your friend. 🎶 I’m not crying 😭 (of course I am and everyone knows it 🫶🏻) #coop #coopfamily #cooperativepreschool #transitions
Facing disappointment. It’s a natural part of life. Normalize rejection so we don’t feel so crushed by it. I didn’t know you could even submit your own work to be considered for an Emmy nomination until last year. When I discovered that, I thought, I’m proud of my What’s Good segments, why not put myself out there for consideration? Well, this morning the nominations were announced and the nominating committee chose 5 other stellar segments to officially nominate and my name was not on that list. Of course I’m disappointed. I have had this dress hanging on my rack since January in hopes of manifesting myself wearing it to the ceremony this summer. I believed it could happen for me. Sometimes we don’t get what we want. That’s okay. It was never about an award or a dress or ME, even. It was always about the people of Los Angeles who are making it better. I don’t need anyone to honor me to know that what I was doing and the stories I told mattered. I know that in my heart of hearts. I felt it in the interviews, I felt it in the edits, I continue to feel it when I share space with the incredible people I’m now forever connected with because of those segments. My life has been infinitely enhanced by the network of fascinating humans I now know thanks to those segments. Don’t let your greatness be defined by any award or accolade or shiny trophy. Let it be discovered in a feeling that comes from the depths of your soul when you’re walking in alignment with your highest good. Today I feel proud. Proud of putting myself out there and proud for being brave enough to put THIS out there. A decade ago I was on here trying to look cool and get attention. Now I’m on here sharing my truth with intention and hoping to help some of y’all feel less alone. We share the same struggles and vulnerabilities. If this is what failure looks like, it ain’t that bad, my friends. Don’t be afraid to fail and then pick yourself up and dream again. As Ember says, we’re all just stardust and water. Shine on my fellow stars 🌟💫🌊🏆
When Janice said it was gonna be a party, she wasn’t kidding. The most important photo shoot I’ll do all year is the one of my titties. Got a mammogram today and it was honestly, a joyful experience. Shout out to all of the angels working in healthcare who are making the whole process less scary and helped me to view this intimidating appointment as more of a tool for empowerment. I feel much less anxious the more I learn about epigenetics from @michaelgregermd Our choices have power and our bodies are incredibly resilient and have the WILL to be in homeostasis. Funny enough, Chapter 11 of How Not to Die started playing on my drive to Cedars and it’s all about: Breast Cancer. Research shows there’s a lot we can do to reduce our risk. For this reason I’m seriously exploring a vegan diet. Nearly 3 years without a sip of alcohol sure ain’t hurting my chances, either. That’s something to celebrate. Connecting with kind souls like Janice while stone cold sober is way more fun than any drunken night I’ve ever had. Get checked. And meet up with a bestie afterwards. Feeling elevated after a hike and gab with @youcanfindjules who coincidentally met Janice two days ago. Friends inspire each other to do better and be better. Find yourself a Janice and a Jules. And tell em how special they are 🫶🏻
The past week was physically and emotionally draining. Sickness in my house, the weight of the world, existential dread. I was really struggling. Now, feeling more stable, I wrote a note to my future self for the inevitable times I will once again sink into a dark hole. Dear Amy, You are an intentional and thoughtful planner. Stick to your schedule and keep putting one foot in front of the other. Do NOT cancel plans unless by doing so you will experience more harm than good. Dinner with your girlfriends will ALWAYS recharge you especially when the meal starts with a collective deep breath. Spend a few minutes every morning breathing into your belly. Activism is active. Keep going but remember the heavy suffering and despair of the world can consume you if you don’t take time to be still and experience the peace and calm of nature. When in doubt, grab your roller skates and head West. The ocean breeze and sunshine will refresh your spirit and give you the strength and reserves to stay awake and focused on being the change you wish to see. Never stop learning. Read books, integrate their messages. Follow thought provoking and diverse voices who expose the glaring truths of your privilege. Listen to your intuition and notice the messages from the spirits on the other side. Schedule your next therapy appointment. Eat fresh fruits and veggies. Lots of em. And never underestimate the confidence you get from wearing hot pink. Tools only work if you use them. What are some of your go-tos when life gets you down? We can transcend any hardship but it starts with awareness and conscious effort. Shed the old versions of you. Thank them for getting your here. Then summon all of your courage to step into the light and shine for those stuck in the dark. Sending love and light from my corner of the globe to yours ✨ #mentalhealth #motherhood #lifelessons

Exploring the Carson City/Tahoe territory last year was an adventure of a lifetime with the ultimate tour guide @yourbucketlistguide Justin packed our itinerary with heart pumping activities set amongst the most beautiful scenery. I will continue to travel to the ends of the Earth (and the depths of our souls) to infinity with you, brother. You make me feel like I’m alive again 🥹✨🍄🟫🫶🏻💫✨ @tahoetreetop @soaringnv @basecampreno
Basically, we 🫶🏻 you @drewseeley Try this with your friends and loved ones. It’s a really special experience even if it makes you feel super uncomfortable at first. Trust. The first time I ever did this was with a group of the most interesting, intelligent and insightful humans in Israel. It was an unforgettable exercise and I’m so sad I accidentally deleted that video off my WhatsApp before saving it. Drew is a words of affirmation kinda guy. I hope this made our magical Father’s day weekend ever more memorable 🥾⛰️🌲💫🫀
I’m still buzzing from this show. Wow wow wow. Achinta never ceases to amaze me with her poignant productions with @blue13dance If you can see #soliloquy tonight DO NOT MISS IT!
