This is a care partner PSA 🔊 My message is simple. When we are not looking after ourselves, we are no good to the people we love who we want to show up for and take care of.
I don’t have this down to a fine-science either, but I try. It’s an affirmation I use daily so it’s kept in the forefront of my mind. Your pictures, words of support and love for me and my family were felt. Honestly, thank you, it helps 🙏🏽
I ask that you’ll consider to keep looking for that one beautiful thing or moment in your day 💞 And I hope you can take me seriously in my dopey hat 😁

I grow from hearing about other people’s experiences vs others opinions. Experience vs opinion are two different things.
I’m lucky enough to have read some of your messages but I wonder if you could write and share some hope and encouragement below so other care partners can feel that love too 🙏🏽💕

It was really nice to get back in front the lens of my dear friend @yutsai88
for @enthusiastreport. I spoke to @lincolnbsalazar about my new brand @maketimewellness that helps women learn how to make time for their brains, body and beauty—in that order while raising awareness for charity 🤍 link in bio

Dementia effects so many of us and our families. It’s not going anywhere. @laurenmillerrogen co-founder of @wearehfc stopped me dead in my tracks when I heard her say the other day, “The truth is we should all be thinking about this whether it’s in your family history or not. Everyone with a brain is at risk for dementia.” So I’ll be here continuing my efforts for my family and yours. You coming? 🙏🏽💞 #letsgetloud #frontotemporaldementia #ftdawareness

The cover story of today’s NYT Magazine explores a family’s journey contending with the fact that they have a 50-50 chance of carrying the genetic mutation of frontotemporal dementia (FTD.)
This article was so emotionally impactful that it took me days to get through reading it, I just couldn’t do it in one sitting given how deeply serious and heavy it was. In fact, I still haven’t fully been able to shake off the pain I felt listening to the devastating details of this family’s journey. Proceed with caution.
Robert Kolker, who covered their story, did it in a very sensitive and compassionate way. The family was so courageous to share their personal story and so selflessly—it has served our community well.
These are, unfortunately, the stories it takes to raise awareness around this devastating disease. I know they will be heard and ultimately make a difference for your family, mine, and I pray, for theirs whether it be genetic or sporadic cases.
My hope is the next time FTD makes the cover of the NYT Magazine, it’ll be a story about a cure, an efficacious drug, and/or a faster way to diagnose this horrendous disease before it evolves into something unmanageable.
If you are a family in need of support today, please take advantage of all @theaftd resources have available to you.

Middle school! Here she comes! 👩🏻🎓📚❣️ @buuski @zorina.heming @scoutlaruewillis @demimoore
@kristinrunning turned her grief, helplessness and sadness into some very profound and impactful work within the FTD space. Her husband Lee was diagnosed with FTD at the age of 35. To honor him and her family, she started the Holloway Summit, an event designed to bring together the world’s leading FTD experts each year to work collaboratively on producing the next big scientific breakthrough alongside @theaftd. This year’s focus was on FTD biomarkers.
I was a fly on the wall in this conference and I will admit my brain is a bit broken since the discussions were extremely scientific and way over my head. But my take away is a very positive one. I got to see scientists, researchers, clinicians— some of the brightest minds within the FTD community geeking out over what they were learning and sharing with others in the room. And I was beaming from the sidelines as I could feel their enthusiasm, pride and care for their work. They said “we aren’t crawling anymore but starting to walk” and at their pace of discovery, which is moving at a remarkable rate, my hope is they will be sprinting soon.
I want to relay to you that they feel our sense of urgency and rest assure they are working so hard to #endFTD.
I’m so proud and thankful to Kristin Holloway for the work she has set out to do and is accomplishing already. I’m leaving the Holloway Summit inspired (and actually a little smarter than when I arrived!) Thank you to @theaftd and to Susan Dickinson for sitting next to me and breaking down the scientific jargon into layman’s terms 🩵

If you love someone with dementia then you’ve probably heard about ambiguous loss and Pauline Boss, PhD. Dr. Boss coined the phrase in the 1970’s. Through her teachings as professor, 45 years as a family therapist and books around this very subject, she has helped many throughout her impactful career, including myself. Dr. Boss recently retired but I had the privilege of talking with her over on Make time to Connect. I hope you will find comfort and support in her teachings 🧡 Link in my bio.

Dr. Richard Isaacson was the first person that introduced me to the term “brain health,” which completely changed my whole approach to how I view and take care of my own health today. Brain first and the rest of my body will benefit.
Dr. Richard Isaacson is a Preventive Neurologist who conducts clinical and translational research at the Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases in Florida.
In this is conversation, Dr. Isaacson takes us on a deep dive into the pillars of brain health. Why caregivers need to prioritize their own health and why he thinks that preventive measures is the cure to some neurodegenerative diseases.
No matter how many times I hear Dr. Isaacson share his knowledge, I always walk away with something new.

To celebrate #BrainAwarenessMonth we held our first “Make Time Meet-Up.” So many great women came, we made new friends and talked about the importance of women putting our brain health first. Our Meet-Up even hit 3 of the 6 pillars to great brain health: 🚶🏻♀️Physical Exercise: We took a brisk walk by the ocean. 💊Food & Nutrition: We supported our brains with our Make time for Brain Health drink supplement and snacked on delicious @moshlife bars. 👯♀️Social Interaction: We walked, talked and made meaningful connections. There is nothing women can’t do when they join forces and put their voices together. The Make time Movement is determined to change the 1 out of every 6 women #alzheimers statistic! Join the Make time Movement! Our brains matter! 🧠🌈💞
