When I found this dress the bottom half was ruined. Holes, stains and discoloration but the top half was stunning and I couldn’t let her go. I found some white chiffon at @moodfabrics and dyed it as close as I could to match the existing fabric and then took it to my tailor. A classic feature of many 30’s dresses is the V shape seam below the torso so we chopped the original and inserted the new fabric with a V seam which gave us the ability to play and add volume and a small train, all cut on the bias ( as are most designs of this era ). I’ve never worn her. I’ve been saving her for something really special. But I love that sharing her here at least means she gets to be seen. For the last two years I have had the immense privilege of driving onto the WB lot and walking onto a stage filled with the most hard working, loving and talented cast and crew that comedy has to offer. Today they received a season three pick up. Knowing and loving them as I do, I am beyond overjoyed for the most deserving people I know. I will miss the honor of being in their brilliant company, but my god. That was fun. My time at Night Court has come to an end. I owe a great thanks to NBC, WB, After January Productions and our Writers / Producers / Directors / Cast and Crew for two incredible years. My favorite thing about this business is how often old friends appear in new places; that’ll be a day I look forward to greatly. Much love, India x

This is Ella, my Nan, one of the few great loves of my life. She was my second parent, and I wouldn’t have changed it for the world. Thank you for being there for every moment that mattered Nan. Thank you for being my first phone call when I was sad, or scared or excited to tell you something. Thank you for slummy in the bath tub, Ice cream and lemonade, sweets under my pillow, sing song walks to school, fairies in the garden, chucky egg, apple pie and tea and toast before bed. Thank you for the notes. The pearls. The lisptick. Thank you for the hugs. I hope you knew how badly we needed you. No one will ever be as proud of my brother and I as my Nan was. No one will ever be as happy to see us. My Nan had a childlike glow that made every moment a fairytale. I have some pages from her journal, and every entry is a celebration of even the simplest day in her life, and I’ll spend mine trying to learn how to share in her contentment. I slept on a mattress on the floor by her bed for the last 8 days of her life. Some nights my mum and I took shifts holding her hand. Singing songs. Telling stories. We kept watch. Just as she has over us all our lives; and somehow always will. She’s the butterflies in the garden. She’s the stars in the night sky. She is love. The Best Nan in All The World and Far Beyond. Every Tuesday I am celebrating actors I love! Today I am spotlighting India de Beaufort, a woman whose smile instantly puts you at ease and draws you in. Equally at home in comedy or drama, India finds the joy in every role she plays. She makes sure to give the crew the attention and respect they deserve, realizing that the final project will only work if we’re all in it together. She recently wrapped a two year run on the hit series NIGHT COURT, and despite having almost 2 decades of professional credits, I know there is still so much more depth to see from her. I asked India a few questions and here is what she had to say: WHAT IS A MEMORABLE AUDITION STORY YOU HAVE? I’m going to group a bunch together. I’ve heard the words “not moving forward, but you made a fan” so many times I thought it was just a nice thing people said to soften the blow. For years the “fans” I had made didn’t amount to actual work. Until it did. At a certain point the jobs I booked shifted from shots in the dark to familiar faces. Every audition counts. And somehow there’s some fire in that. A little extra gun powder to keep you going when it feels like nothing’s landing. It all adds up. The work will pay off. Every audition counts. WHAT ROLE OR PROJECT THAT YOU’VE DONE ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF? VEEP. I loved it. WHAT GOAL DO YOU STILL WANT TO ACHIEVE? I’d like to lead something with a team and script I love. Anything. A play. An indie. A super low budget passion project. I just want to love the script and the character. I’ve had a career of supporting roles.
