I am not sure what happened to the caption but I think everyone figured it out! I married the love of my life @drjenadjacent. My son did my make up. My best friends were there. My kids were awesome. And I make my own bouquet from Walgreens that day.

Thoughts about 1864 and Arizona…
If the standard of care is 1864, it should apply to all those who think it represents valid care
A huge red flag for me is people claiming that there is a post birth control pill syndrome. This has never been described in the medical literature, so this rapid development of supplements, books, and courses about it is alarming. You can’t claim something is understudied and then turn around and designed untested therapies for profit. I mean, you can, but then you are a hypocrite.
When you stop the pill the hormones are out of your system very quickly, often within 7 days. Fertility returns very quickly as well. And there are no robust studies showing any link between the pill and nutritional deficiencies.
While it is true that there are aspects of how people feel on the pill that have been understudied, you don’t help that by selling unstudied supplements or courses, selling unstudied therapies is profiting from gaps in the system, not closing them.
The birth control pill often treats many conditions, for example acne and PMS. It is even possible that people start the pill before those conditions have emerged, for example maybe they had very heavy periods at age 13. And so when they stop, they experience these conditions because they are no longer being treated by the pill.
If you want to stop the pill, just stop. You do not need unstudied supplements or coaching for a condition that has yet to be described in the medical literature.
And if you have symptoms, see a medical provider for an evaluation.
There is a lot of disinformation out there.
However, there are reputable places to find good information. Swipe to see the video of my quick search for “Is mifepristone FDA approved.” Numerous reputable sites came up, like the FDA, ACOG, and KFF to name a few.
Since the question is about the FDA, that is the best place to look. In addition to a statement from the FDA indicating mifepristone was approved in 2000, in the search you can see also the package insert, which would only exist if the medication is FDA approved.
Asking questions is fine. Like I said, a lot of disinformation out there. But anyone telling you that mifepristone isn’t FDA approved is a lying misogynist (not gonna mince words).

You do not need to touch the menstrual rainbow for your health! Tampons are not menstrual tea leaves!!!! This is a pretty common grift…making up gibberish about the menstrual cycle and then promoting some masterclass/diet/supplement to fix. The color of menstrual blood is not due to the uterus being hot or cold and if your menstrual blood is blue you should probably call a doctor, not a menstrual influencer. Best advice, don’t engage and just block. Engagement boosts their algorithm.

I took a little trip down menstrual memory lane to compare the most absorbent menstrual pad from the late 1970s to technology of today. I had very heavy periods, so I used the most absorbent pad I could find, Kotex New Freedom. I was able to buy a small box on Etsy! I then bought what looked like the most absorbent @kotex_brand of today. Look at the difference in size!!
This is not an ad. I used Kotex back in the day, so I wanted to compare brand-to-brand.
What does an atheist do an Easter weekend? Go see Easter Parade at a cinema that had been returned to its splendor and charges $3 for the largest popcorn and the largest soda! The @stanford_theatre
Fred Astaire doesn’t dance, he floats. And the first dance sequence with the drums? Holy cr*p. He was 48 I think when it was made.
And Judy Garland. Her voice…really…no words. And she brought this incredible fragility to the character. It was hard to not think of how she was so mistreated.
There was a group there all dressed up and wearing Easter Bonnets, and that was really a great idea. I’ve decided I might need an extravagant hat or two to go with my shoes…

My latest post for The Vajenda is up at TheVajenda.com and it’s a basic primer on menstruation, as in how much is too much and the composition (it’s not just blood).
Then I explain how ibuprofen can reduce menstrual bleeding and take on that TikTok menstrual hack that is supposed to stop or delay your period and is about as effective as you would think. If you want to skip or delay a period, there are hormones for that!
Hope you read the post, and my book Blood is filled with information like this!

🤔 Have you ever wondered why women’s health is so underfunded? Dr. Jen Gunter has an answer: capitalism.
Tune in for her thoughts and a whole lot more – including how we empower women with knowledge about their bodies – it’s all in our latest episode of The Honest Talk Podcast 🎧
Last week I got caught in a Facebook phishing scam. I will put this link for this in my bio. It was very elaborate and involved and took weeks, and it is happening to lots of people so I want to help raise awareness!
I received an email request to be on a podcast with someone in the wellness space. They were UK based and it was a typical kind of request I receive. I asked my UK publisher if this was a legitimate podcast and they said yes and they thought it would be a good fit for me.
They said this would be a Facebook live event. I had done a few before, so I said sure. I did not check to see if this creator did Facebook lives, but of course never occurred to me it was a scam.
They set up a zoom to get my Facebook set for the live. It sounded very legit. I have had to do these kinds of calls to set up software (or whatever) before big live events before.
The guy on the zoom had me change some Facebook settings that didn’t seem weird because I never use my Facebook business account. And then he pressured me to take a final step, which I refused to do as it made no sense. He wanted me to change my email for the Facebook to a different email of mine. It sounded innocuous, and he had concocted a plausible reason, but it made no sense and so I said no. And then I was suspicious.
The next day I saw several posts on Threads about an identical scam. Weeks in the making for each person, and tailored for that person’s area.
The scammers had partial control on my Facebook, the business part, but not of the actual account so they couldn’t kick me out. Not doing that final step saved me from losing the page altogether. As I had no credit cards saved, they couldn’t post ads (which is what I think the scam is about, but seriously, it seems a lot of work for that).
I got my Facebook account back because I paid for Meta verified and worked with them and someone who works at Facebook follows me and they reached out.
Anyway…be wary of Facebook live requests! And sadly, going forward, I am going to have to vet every podcast request to make sure it’s not the next elaborate scam.
A quote to live by, and one we should all have written on a t-shirt. @drjengunter “men are like shoes, the fit is never better when you get home from the store”

TW: infant loss and birth trauma
Occasionally I get to meet a guest where every single sentence they utter contains a mind-expanding truth bomb that makes me view the world ever so slightly differently. Well, Dr Jen Gunter was one of those guests. An ob-gyn and women’s health specialist who writes bestselling books and regularly takes on medical misinformation and wellness culture, she’s here to tell you everything you never knew about your own bodies.
We talk about the ultimate empowerment of understanding what goes on inside us, whether that be periods or ejaculation. We discuss the insidious effect of patriarchal language in medicine (why is it ‘erectile dysfunction’ but ‘ovarian failure’?) and why she took on Goop. She reveals why she is so passionate about what she does – and it stems from the premature brith of her triplet sons, one of whom tragically died. Just a heads-up, if you’ve been through something similar, that you may want to listen to this episode with care.
Plus, we talk about marrying the wrong person, the ‘failure’ of a first marriage ending in divorce, an inability to say no and her mistaken belief that, for years, she didn’t like exercise.
Oh, and I confess to once getting my vagina steamed. For all that and more, listen to the terrific Dr Jen Gunter on How To Fail wherever you get your podcasts!
