This is from a parody account but would be perfect for Fantastic Riposte for two reasons: 1) Kamala would be using Food As Poetic Metaphor, thus killing like 17 birds with one highly relatable stone for Americans and 2) The Michelle Obama approach of “when they go low, we go high” doesn’t work with completely shitty and unapologetic narcissists like Donald Trump, and she knows she isn’t EVER going to win over his base. So she isn’t gonna try. This message goes low but in the highest possible way. Kamala media team, WATCH AND LEARN!!!!!!!!!! And for the love of god and all that’s holy, PLEASE ACTUALLY POST THIS KINDA SHIT. JUST DO IT. And for the love of god and all that’s holy, JUST STOP BEING SO NICE AND GO LOW IN THE HIGH WAY. Or High in the Low way? It’s the only way to beat this fucker. Do if for a country of women who are sick of this man and his shitty and compassionless way of being. FIGHT. BACK. Have your cake and eat it too!! Call him out for having eyes bigger than his stomach!! Call him out for what he has does to women!! Call him out for his greed!! Call him out for his obvious egotism and hypocrisy!! DO IT!!!! Call him out for his utterly inhumane behavior and lack of accountability!!!!!!!! CALL👏HIM👏OUT👏AND👏MAKE👏HIM👏SQUIRM👏. We have been waiting.
“Summer in the city
Means cleavage, cleavage, cleavage
And I started miss you, baby,
sometimes
I’ve been staying up drinking
In the late night establishments
Telling strangers personal things”

I’m truly enjoying this photo, gotta say. Didn’t know it was being taken.
Also I almost never see my yitties from this angle and my face looks so perfectly normal and human. He’s a good photographer that Brendon Downey. ♥️📸☀️

I’m gutted to hear about the sudden death of the iconic punk musician and engineer/producer Steve Albini…heart attack, he was only 61.
He was a master of sonic economy and had such incredible ethics about keeping sound simple and bullshit-free; he knew how to get songs into your heart via your ears. We had our squabbles (famously around my kickstarter) but we’d made our peace. A lot of what those squabbles taught me, in the end, was about how much punk is lost in semantics. Sometimes “DIY” absolutely doesn’t mean “Do It Yourself”, it means “Do It With Whoever is Around”, and I sometimes think that Steve and I were just a quarter-turn away from one another.
He was a close friend of my longtime producer @congletonjogn (read John’s feed, there’s a beautiful post).
John and I would talk a lot about Steve and his grumpy ways but beautiful soul.
Steve suffered no fools and openly gave no fucks about over-decorating. He was known for capturing the alchemy of musicians slaying live. He produced – literally – THOUSANDS of records. He lived and breathed music-making.
A few of the albums he produced had a profound effect on my head-world of music-understanding: @pjharveyofficial’s “Rid of Me”, @pixiesofficial’s “Surfer Rosa” and The Dirty Three’s “Ocean Songs” (still one of my all time favorite instrumental records to write and drive to). All massive influences on the @dresdendolls and my approach to sound.
It’s sad when someone so good at their job leaves the planet so early.
My best Steve Albini story: I once called him in 2007 about finishing the production of an album, since my producer had gone AWOL. He said: “Sure, when?” I said: “Don’t you want to hear the demos first, the songs? Don’t you want to make sure you like the material?”
He said: “Nope, I give no fucks about your demos. Just come to Chicago if you wanna make a record”.
I was so vain and grumpy with his lack of desire to listen to my half-finished record that I didn’t work with him. I regret it. I’ll never get the chance now.
Rest in reverb, beautiful Steve.
Thank you for giving us so much beautiful music. Thank you for birthing so many great albums into the world. Thank you. 🙏🎤♥️

Happy pride month. Everyone is gay!! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️💖🎉🦄
Northampton, Massachusetts aka home to Sylvia Plath’s tortured pages aka my weirdo neighbor in the hills there, hey there, talk to me. It’s show time. I know it’s the summer so you’re all off-cycle and studentless but there’s gotta be some locals in the trees yonder. We must planning. What are we doing when we get to town? I’ve already reached out to my heroes at Iconica Coffeeshop. I will go to A to Z to get some toys. I’ve got some feelers out for a good place for a special Q&A gathering. The crown jewel solo piano show itself is gonna be grand – it’s Sept 21 at the very gorgeous @aomtheatre / Academy of Music Theater. But what else? I’m gonna be there for a day or two and I’ve honestly never spent real time in the town…I’ve just jetted in and out for shows. I want to get to know you. It’s time. What’s happening? Where do we eat? Where are we staying?? Guide my sword. I love you all. I can’t wait to bang the living shit out of that piano. I need it. Tickets are at amandapalmer.net and I just put link in stories. #northamptonma

A big reason I wanted to start this patron-powered venue in Woodstock, NY was to bring powerful women and their art and conversations into real-time flesh space. Look at this posse, cmon. Photographed at our recent fundraiser by fabulous @bluenote27. From left to right: cabaret star @rizo.love, moi, surging songwriter @ameliaallen221 and pianist, writer, producer and half of @gracieandrachel, @graciecoates.
Not shown here but mega powering up this venue: @insta_grammaticas, @hollymiranda, @rypiet, @somethingeffulgent, @zibby.jahns and @saradahanzie.
We have THREE WEEKS left in this gorgeous space before we MOVE!! 💃We are relocating down the street and will hopefully re-open with a new name in the spring. Come to an event, ANY EVENT, and see what all the fuss has been about before we shutter!!
Notable coming up: I’ve got a nearly sold out solo show on May 26th!
@luis.mojica.music had a sold out show May 11th.
Holly and Gracie (@gollypresents) have a duo show on May 25th. Our last PARTY AROUND A PIANO singalong with @lance_horne on May 19th (it’s gonna be LIT) and YAY I’m partnering up with my local indie bookstore @goldennotebookbookstore for an author conversation series!
May 12 – I’ll be talking with Elizabeth Lesser (@elizlesser), bestselling author of “Cassandra Speaks” and “Broken Open”. We will discuss divorce, survival, and how to make decisions when deciding how much truth to tell, to whom and discuss how truth in art can help and harm. Songs will be useful.🎶
May 18 – I’ll be talking with Katherine Yeske Taylor (@kyt_in_nyc), author of the just-out “She’s a Badass: Women in Rock Shaping Feminism”, featuring a load of great artists. I might ask her to do a mini song-exploder with me. There’s a piano, after all.🎹
June 1 – I’ll be talking with Leslie Jamison, bestselling author of “The Recovering” and the new searingly honest memoir “Splinters”. This is going to be … something. I might play her some new dolls songs.🔥
All events will have books for sale and signings and Q&A.

Here we go, hometown. The @dresdendolls are coming to do the thing. I’ve been spending the entire morning putting this show up on social media, but I wanted to come here and say something personal about it, and I’ll be talking about this show on the patreon quite a bit over the upcoming months as we finally, for the first time in seven years. Boston. It’s home, it’s hurt, it’s love, it’s Mother, it’s all the mistakes of my youth, it’s all my dead friends and dead ideas, it’s all my living full circle friends, it’s all the old haunts and it’s allllll the feels. As we’ve toured through the states for the last two years getting this epic, epic new dolls record (our first since 2008) into shape, we’ve avoided playing Boston for a while. I wanted to come back with my muscled flexed, with my friends around me, with my theater family, with my soul intact. It’s taken this long since I got back from New Zealand to feel **almost fully human** again, and I’m still only about 90% there. But I gotta say, every show we play heals me another fraction of a percentage. Every time I play one of these new songs, it pulls a comforting blanket and pours medicine on the memories of those ultra-traumatic days in 2020 when my heart was ripped out of my body. I feel I am only starting to understand the deeper, more profound and alchemical ability of my own songs to heal my own self…and I’ve been talking about this sort of alchemy since 2000. But there’s something happening, as I sing these new songs, as I learn what my purpose is, as I learn what my songs are built to do: for me, for other people, for my kid, for my community. There’s not doubt: it’s frightening as hell. But I seem to have no choice in the matter. I seem to be taking dictation from above and below and whatever is coming out, I cherish the sound. Gogol Bordello are OLD friends of ours from back in our day as foolish, raging punks on the road constantly between Boston and NYC. They’re stayed resonant friends and I AM SO EXCITED TO PLAY WITH THEM openers we chose with help from the community: @ensmb.band & @johnnymanchild. Art by A. E. Kieren (kieren) w graphics by @ditvcreative. Ticket info in comments.
PARTY AROUND A PIANO is so good tonight. This is the jar of fucks on @lance_horne’s piano tonight at @gravesidevariety. I just sang a song – a request to a woman in her seventies who asked me to “sing the song that made me”. It was a thing.
I’m gonna miss this place something fierce. We have three weeks left in this space. Come to ANYTHING. We have concerts and author talks galore all month. June 1 – my author talk with Leslie Jamison – is our closing day. 🎉♥️🎉🥀gravesidevariety.com
