The last stop, Madrid. The first place I ever visited in Europe. I was in college and in an exchange student program, so we didn’t have a lot of money and I used to entertain myself by walking endlessly through the city. We don’t have a lot of pictures from this trip because it was so HOT I had to use an umbrella to walk around!! But I’m not much for crowds, and in August the city is empty and the museums are open. So in some ways it was exactly what I wanted.

Albert was my stylist on Top Chef for 13 years and in that time he became not only a trusted confidante and friend but like a brother to me. Albert was the one who first taught Littlehands to climb a tree when we were filming the finale in Alaska. Albert was the one who came before me on set and left long after we filmed.
