“I was so young and extremely nervous, but she made it so easy. She was so sweet, caring and loving. I remember that first hug. It was very genuine.” – Enrique Iglesias on working with Whitney for “Could I Have This Kiss Forever.” The song peaked at #52 on the Billboard Hot 100 on this day in 2000. This mid-tempo duet with Whitney and Enrique Iglesias was written by Diane Warren and produced by David Foster, Mark Taylor and Brian Rawling. It first appeared on Iglesias’s debut English language album.
Flashback to August 24, 2002 when “Whatchulookinat” (co-written by Whitney, along with Michael Andre Lewis, Tammie Harris, Jerry Muhammed and produced by Muhammed and Bobby Brown) peaked at #96 on the Billboard Hot 100. August 20, 1988: “Love Will Save The Day” from Whitney’s second RIAA certified Diamond album reached #1 on the Dance Charts. It was one of the album’s uptempo singles along with “So Emotional” and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me).” One critic wrote at the time: “It’s lively Afro-Cuban flavor, driven by a wall of clattering percussion, is truly joyous.” Click the link in bio to watch one of our favorite live performances from Brazil in 1994.
