Yday on my @lbc show we were discussing last week’s case of a mother successfully going to court to stop her ex partner from having what are known as “parental responsibilities” over their daughter. Her ex partner had raped the mother 3 times and had previously been convicted of raping a stranger. The law gives those men, even those who have murdered the mothers (see recent changes with Jade’s law), automatic rights of parental responsibility. I argued the law in these cases should protect the mothers and children in the first instance. Neil rang in and we spoke for around 4 minutes..we debated… then he tried to explain how men are suffering right now at the hand of “women’s aggressions”. His “evidence” was to try to quote the far right Jordan Peterson. What next? The “reasonable” views of Andrew Tate on mainstream media? My show and I said NO… When I post this…. Pls then read through the inevitable abusive comments from the misogynists….which become very dull after a while, and imagine how the men who make these comments operate in their own homes, with their own partners and at work with women too. These things don’t happen in isolation. I’m working on a big plan for all of us (including the good guys) to get together to wipe this sh*t out. It’ll work 👍🏼💪🏼❤️and the reason I’ll fight is not for me but for my daughter’s generation and for their children too. Together we are the majority. Others want us to forget that. One of the critical issues I tackle in my book #NowWhat is how narcissistic behaviors infiltrate not only our personal lives but also the political sphere. Narcissists are drawn to power, and politics is their stage. A common technique they use is DARVO: Deny, Attack, and Reverse the role of Victim and Offender. Take the disgraceful Partygate scandal, where over 100 police fines were issued—including to Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak. The parties happened; everyone involved knew it. But when the truth started surfacing, the DARVO tactic kicked in: Deny—They lied, over and over again. Johnson even called the reports “deranged” and “absurd.” Attack—Johnson lashed out, claiming the media and political opponents were out to get him. Reverse the role of Victim and Offender—Suddenly, in 2023, Johnson portrayed himself as the victim of a “Partygate and Brexit witch hunt,” flipping the narrative completely. This tactic isn’t just isolated to Partygate—it’s a common thread in politics and life. Narcissists masterfully manipulate the truth, and in doing so, they distort the public’s perception of reality. In #NowWhat, I dive deep into the psychology behind these tactics and how to recognize when the circle of acceptable behavior has shifted. My advice? my book #NowWhat, I outline a bold plan for change—one that includes banning Old Etonians from holding cabinet positions until 2050. Here’s why. Since 1721, this country has had 57 prime ministers. Shockingly, 20 of them attended Eton College, with 5 of the last 15 PMs since 1955 hailing from the same elite institution. A third of our leaders since 1955 were molded by the same privileged halls. By 2021, the influence of Eton-educated boys over our public life hit a staggering peak—perhaps even more pervasive than 100 years ago. But what has this legacy of power done for the people of this country? Time and time again, we’ve seen that real, lasting change never comes from a small, insular group clinging to power. This is why I believe it’s time to close the doors. No Old Etonian should be allowed to sit in the cabinet before 2050. Let’s reset the system. What do you think? HAY WINTER FESTIVAL Had a beautiful time at @hayfestival Friday night our global movie star @thereallukeevans was switching on the Christmas lights before we talked on stage about his new autobiography Boy From The Valleys. Luke was brought up as a Jehovah’s Witness in the South Wales Valleys and turned his back on the religion at age 16 The book and our chat is emotional (he adores his parents) and searingly honest…and very funny too.
