If we get another season I’ll be better about BTS stuff! We’ll have another epic mafia game and I’ll take photos this time. Warren and I will finally get good at selfies. I will continue to hang out at the grip truck where I can get the best lattes in Vancouver. Argh, we had so many lovely dinners and took no photos. Next season I will document moments! I promise! Please give us another! For now here’s a little collection of S3. I am so grateful to be part of this show. This season surprised me at every turn and broke my heart also- I’m so scared of people being mad at me for spoilers, but I love and adore every actor who left this season and each and every one of you had a magnificent journey and an incredible end to your story. Your performances were committed and wild and beautiful and compelling. Thank you to @yjashlyle and Bart and Jonathan and all of our writers for this insane rollercoaster. I am grateful to you for all eternity and can’t wait to see where you take us all next. Thank you to our incredible directors this season. Thank you to the actors who I love with my whole heart. Thank you to @littletimingwizard and the AD team for absolutely everything. And mostly thank you to our crew, I love you guys so very much and feel supported at every turn. I’m in awe of how hard you work and how kind you all are. Love always ❤️
#VISIONARIES ✨ Uzo Aduba and Melanie Lynskey have carved space for nuanced, unapologetically real women on screen—from Aduba’s sharp turn in #TheResidence to Lynskey’s haunting work in #Yellowjackets. Melanie Lynskey’s breakout role at age 15 in Peter Jackson’s “Heavenly Creatures,” opposite a young #KateWinslet, marked the start of a career defined by quiet defiance and emotional depth. From that early moment of learning by doing to her acclaimed performance in “Yellowjackets,” Lynskey has continually resisted pressure to conform—on and off screen. “I don’t know where I got the strength within myself to just be like, ‘What if there is a middle aged woman on television who looks like this?’” Melanie said. “People who look more like me can watch TV and go, ‘Oh, I recognize myself in this person.’” ⭐️ @msmelanielynskey @uzoaduba 🎬 @yellowjackets @peakparamount @paramountplus @shondaland @netflix 🔗 Link in bio to watch the full episode now! Every day when Jason comes home, these cats, who I’m believing more and more are tiny furry sociopaths who don’t care about anything, rush to the door to greet him. They climb up his body and circle around his legs and miaow desperately to try to explain to him how they’ve been shooed off the furniture over and over by their evil mother as they were innocently scratching it to shreds. They missed him. Then our sweet daughter runs to him, and throws her arms and legs around him, and needs him to know every thing that happened in her day, good and bad, and look what I drew, and here’s my favourite stuffy of the day, and my knee got hurt, and I missed you. And then he comes into the kitchen to give me a kiss and hears all about the million ways I’m stressed out and stretched thin and exhausted and did I do something wrong or is it the other person? What should I do about this choice I was supposed to make yesterday? Can you believe these cats still have Giardia? And I missed you. He is patient, loving, hearing all of it. Giving us his whole heart, his sweet face turned to us listening, frowning or smiling , we are allowed all of him. We make fun of him for being addicted to his phone but the truth is, this man is the most attentive and present person when you ask him to be. None of us have ever felt so seen or so loved. My only fear for my daughter’s romantic future is that no one she meets will live up to the example she’s been given in her dad. How can any person be this full of love? I hope she finds them and I hope they exist. For now, I know I am the luckiest woman alive, and she is the luckiest kid because she is getting to be raised by this man. Happy Father’s Day @jason_ritter You are a treasure. ❤️❤️❤️
I am so so excited about people finally being able to see @griffininsummerfilm! I love this movie. First of all I got to reunite with the angel that is @abbyryderfortson, my Togetherness daughter! She is so SO talented and so kind and I love her and her sweet family. I met some wonderful people and had the best time making this. Owen Teague is as great as I hoped he would be, as an actor and a person. One of the best!! I adore Nicholas our amazing writer/director who crafted such a heartfelt and truly hilarious movie. I loved all of the producers especially the amazing @jab2109. @camimendes and @rachellynnmatthews were amazing, on set and working hard every single day. But most of all, I feel so lucky to have been able to work with @everettblunck – without exaggeration he’s one of the greatest actors I’ve ever worked with. He is nothing like Griffin yet embodied him completely. He surprised me and delighted me every take, it took all I had to not just watch him like a fan when we were acting! Plus he’s just a great human being. What a joy. I had gone through a tough time and felt a little disillusioned when I arrived in Richmond. But being on this set, making this movie, and being with kind people who just wanted to make something great reminded me why I love my job. And getting to see these kids who were so excited and bringing their all to their work filled my heart with hope. Our crew was amazing. I left feeling a million times better. And I love the film. Please see it if you can! It’s at the Laemmle Royal in Santa Monica and next weekend opens in NY. Available to pre-order for streaming. Last picture of our all female art department who KILLED IT 💕

In 2016, SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE premiered “Wells for Boys.” The sketch, co-written by Julio Torres and Jeremy Beiler, introduced a young, sensitive boy who, unlike his peers, didn’t want to be a four-star chef or win the race. Instead, he just longed to be understood. “Some kids like to play, others sort-of just wait for adulthood,” a voice-over explained. As I watched Griffin Nafly, the titular character in GRIFFIN IN SUMMER, I couldn’t help but think of the sensitive boy at the well. Nearly a decade later, that sketch has stayed with me (and I imagine others) in lightly poking fun at a kind of child that’s more common in real life than represented in film or television. Perhaps that’s why I had such a visceral reaction to GRIFFIN IN SUMMER, the feature directorial debut from Nicholas Colia that tells the story of a 14-year-old boy (an astounding debut from Everett Blunck) coming to terms with adulthood’s first peckings. It’s at once a gentle and compassionate portrayal of the life of a front-of-the-classroom kid living in a small town he thinks he’s outgrown, while also being a meditation on the powers of the creative spirit in imbuing life with meaning. In short, I loved it. I think you will as well. I did a full interview in my Substack with Nicholas Colia as well as the great Melanie Lynskey, who plays Griffin’s mother, Helen — the film’s steady center. I think the film is a triumph in both filmmaking and storytelling and warmed my heart as much as it had me peeing my pants with laughter. I hope you’ll watch it (now available on VOD!) because it’s great AND because you see the value in supporting indie filmmaking and the indie filmmakers who tell stories that would never be greenlit by big studios. These stories deserve to be told and they have audiences who want to consume them. Us. This is one of those stories!

She’s an angel on earth and any person who is lucky enough to meet her automatically understands this. I know not everyone is in a position to help but if you can, we all appreciate it. Thank you. Xo https://www.gofundme.com/f/getting-abbie-better
