Today, as we launched the HPV vaccination campaign at Ayesha Bawany Academy, Karachi, Pakistan achieved a major milestone in protecting the health of our girls. This life-saving vaccine will safeguard girls aged 9 to 14 from cervical cancer, a preventable disease that still leads to around 5,008 new cases and nearly 3,200 deaths every year in our country. With the commitment of the Government of Pakistan and the Government of Sindh, and support from @WHOPakistan, @UNICEFPakistan, and gavi, this free nationwide campaign will reach 15 million girls in its first phase and expand to 17.8 million through routine immunization. Cervical cancer is one of the leading cancers among women in Pakistan, but it is preventable. In the National Assembly, I raised concern over the worsening state of Pakistan’s highways. Despite NHA claiming Rs 75 billion for repairs, major arteries like the N-25 “killer highway” and GT Road remain deadly and neglected. Her Home Should Be Her Haven 🏠❤️ Too many women in Pakistan are thrown out of their own homes during disputes, left with nowhere to go and no safety to hold on to. Today in the National Assembly I introduced the Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill, 2025 to change that. This bill makes it a criminal offence for any husband or family member to unlawfully evict a wife from her shared home. It protects her right to live in safety, dignity and equality and it sends a powerful message that women will no longer be pushed out of the place they call home.
