I love it when this memory pops up 😂😂😂 we had the most hysterical photos shoots. The one for TIME magazine- I kept playing Procol Harum’s Whiter Shade of Pale on loop 😂😂😂
Tina Turner. My second concert. I was 16. I drove. It was me, Chris and John. I had taken John to his first ballet class. Chris was already a teacher at the studio, very young teacher. I had a massive crush on Chris. What struck me at the concert was Tina Turner’s energy and her legs. I was blown away by her. Blown. Away. We were only about 8 rows back, center. Her energy was constant and relentless from beginning to end. ‘A force of nature’ doesn’t even do her justice. When I dropped Chris off afterwards, John jumped out of the car and went with him. I put two and two together. I was sad but I was also happy for my friend John. It was the 80’s, we didn’t cry. We dusted off our hearts, moved on and cranked up the tunes. We had icons who were warriors. We had icons who showed us how to survive, how to thrive. What’s love got to do with it. What’s love but a second hand emotion. The sound track of our youth. A woman who owned her trauma and pain and used it to make the world better. She has no idea she created a generation of alchemists. We learned from her how to take our pain and turn it into something usable. We had icons who rocked their hearts out through their pain. We had a queen to teach us and show us the way. We had Tina Turner. Thank you for your energy and your example of a thriving woman in the face of adversity. Flights of angels to the queen of all queens. ❤️ #tinaturner
Nothing will feed your soul more than dinner with two badass women accompanied with neverending, bubbling conversation. I love you Sharon Gless and Dawn LaFreeda. I feel like a made women, 😂❤️😂 @dawnlafreeda @sharonglessreal
Sharon is the funniest, gutsiest and classiest broad you will ever meet. She deserves the world and more. Happiest of birthdays to the lovely Sharon Gless. I love you lady. You are eternally gorgeous, sexy and hysterical- yet it all pales in comparison to your compassion. The world is a much better place with you in it. We are all lucky you were born. ❤️❤️❤️
Happiest of Birthdays to the magnificent and always kind Scott Lowell, @scolo222 . I will always try to come up with a photo no one has seen but as the years tick by, well, it gets a bit more challenging. Thank you for your friendship Scotty and please everyone head over to YouTube and watch Scott’s amazing series ADOPTABLE!!! It just dropped!! It is incredible and addictive and so very well done!! Bravo Scotty!! Let’s all celebrate Scott and tune in xoxoxox
Dashiell wakes me up at 5:30 and says it’s time to jump in the ocean- let’s go! It’s like living with a personal trainer lol 😂 We love you Hawaii. Thank you for healing us every single time. You never disappoint 💕🙏🏻💕
I remember one day, during the pandemic, Dashiell was having a tough time and I sat in the middle of the floor holding him in my arms while he cried. He was maybe 6? I said to him, “ I love you so much, I would rather be with you during your hardest moment than anywhere else. I’ll sit here all day and cry with you”. He immediately stopped crying. He just looked up at me and his tears dried up and he was ready to play. I love being his Mama. Thank you Dashiell for finding me. You were certainly meant to be my son and I love our journey. Thank you for making me a Mother. 💕🙏🏻💕
I was going to post this thinking, ‘ Oh, what a cute picture! I’m working out again ! You go Clunie! Way to be on top of it! ‘ And then I saw the Christmas tree in the background 😂😂😂 go ahead judge away 😂😂😂
Sometimes an angel comes into your life right when you need them to. Thank you Kevin Starr for showing up at the perfect time. Thank you for your kindness and for your talent. My hair has never felt better. Every single time I see you, I feel like I have a new lease on life. You are an exceptional hair colorist and stylist and an incredible human. Thank you for making me feel beautiful. You are a gift. ❤️ @kevinxstarr
When my Dad passed away after having two massive strokes he was surrounded by family. The nurses all fought to take care of him. Right up until the end he kept everyone laughing. Even after the doctor told him he had zero chance of survival and half of his body was paralyzed, he still tried to get up out of the hospital bed. He was inching his way off the bed, planning his escape. When I say my father was tough, I am simply not sure how to explain it to someone if they didn’t see it with their own eyes. He was also as sweet as he was tough and he believed you practiced being a gentleman for those moments when it is challenging to be a gentleman. Happy heavenly birthday Papa. I love you and miss you and feel you watching over us 💕💕💕
Motherhood brings out the wild in you, not a put together, contrived wild but more of a stripping back the layers and rolling with it wild 😂
Mama Selfie. There were so many otters that at one point we tried to take a picture through the telescope but it could never match what we saw with our own eyes. So is life. By the way, Dashiell fell in love with the fish and chips at the Monterey plaza inn and I fell for the ahi poke tacos 🌮 💕🙏🏻💕#momlife #montereyplazahotel
Dashiell is the most delightful person to travel with. Somehow he made a two hour layover at 5AM in Ohio fun. His curiosity led us to an illy coffee vending machine on the other end of the airport after google searching and discussing every piece of art we came across. Stay curious Dashiell- it’s your strength my love 💕
Thank god for my Mother. I am so grateful for her. She is the epitome of grit and grace and love. I told Dashiell, I forgive you easily because my Mom always forgave me easily. She really was never one to hold a grudge. She wakes up every day and turns the page and glides through life. She understands this life is short and we are only here for so long and it will be over before we know it. I’m so glad she gave that to me. As my father repeatedly told me, she is a woman to ride the river with. I am deeply grateful she is sticking around to help me navigate my river. Thank you for everything Mama. I love you dearly. Happy Mother’s Day! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I know it’s grainy but I was lucky enough to get out and go see Martha Wainwright last night. If you ever, EVER have the chance to see her live, run.. RUN!! Her authenticity, her vulnerability, her artistry and the largesse with which she shares it all is incomparable.. and that gorgeous angelic, bluesy voice of hers- it’s not the kind of voice you’re born with- it’s the kind of voice you earn through pain and triumph. She simply left nothing in the oven. Go buy her book, STORIES I MIGHT REGRET TELLING YOU. She also sang SONGBIRD which just floored me. I love when you see a movie or hang out with an artist or read a great book and it inspires you to go out and create. Martha Wainwright is simply walking inspiration and everything an artist should be. I am glad she made it to planet earth and decided to stick around, we are all better off for it. ❤️ @martha.wainwright
What a great night bonding with so many inspiring women with all of us rallying around Sepi Shyne, Mayor of West Hollywood. Sepi announced she is running for Congress!!! Dashiell said he is ready to knock on doors!! Go Sepi! We love you!!!
Dashiell loves making chicken matzo ball soup with me every weekend, a tradition we started during the pandemic ( we would throw tons of garlic and ginger in to keep us healthy). I wonder how long this phase will last. He loves cutting up the veggies, my sweet boy. I wish I could stop time 💕
Happy Trans day of visibility!! I see you, I hear you, I love you and most importantly~ I stand by you. As I tell Dashiell and everyone I love.. do not apologize for taking up space; you belong, you matter, do not let people impinge on your space, speak up, speak your mind.. this world is made for more than just straight men.. we too get to be full people who are respected and heard. ❤️
As a young actor starting out, I quickly received my Sag Card and after only a few years earned enough to secure my medical insurance through the Sreen Actors Guild. I’ve been a union girl since I was twenty. I relied heavily on that insurance through the good and bad times. During the pandemic many blue collar working actors lost their insurance. Before the Pandemic, many were on the cusp of losing their insurance. Our industry is destroying it’s middle class, the class that built Hollywood from the ground up. We must hold companies accountable. We must demand better for ourselves and for our writers. I believe in every fiber of my being that SagAftra must stand strong with The Writer’s Guild. I always have been and will always be a union girl. Here is to the hard working men and women who built Hollywood and continue to do so. #unionstrong “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together” ~African Proverb
Happy Earth Day!! I remember the day Dashiell woke up and said to me, “ I am here to help clean up the ocean. That is my purpose”. It all makes sense to me now. He has been swimming like a fish from a young age, he knows the name of all the sea creatures in the ocean. Who knows, maybe life is one big grand design. 🌎♥️🌎 #earthday
Thank you to Dashiell’s Godfather, Gregory Rae, for getting us tickets to the new DogMan Musical! Dav Pilky’s DogMan book series is the reason Dashiell became a voracious reader. He has read every DogMan book as well as every Captain Underpants Book at least 30xs each. Run to see this show!! The actors are brilliant and the way they weave the books together was masterful!! Don’t miss it!! We love NY!! ❤️❤️❤️
Happy Memorial Day! My Great Uncle Russell died fighting the Nazis as they made their last ditch offensive against allied forces at the Battle of the Bulge. It was the most important battle of WW2. After Germany’s defeat they would retreat for the remainder of the war. This was also the bloodiest battle of WW2. I told Dashiell Grandma’s uncle gave his life for his country, democracy, freedom and so other’s may live free. I also told him Russell is buried in Normandy at the American cemetery and now Dashiell wants to go find his grave and place flowers and a note on it this summer. Knowing Dashiell that is what we will do. Thank you for paying the ultimate price Russell. We salute your American grit and love of your fellow man and will always carry forth the fight for democracy and for ourselves and other’s to live free. Thank you to all who paid the ultimate price. #freedom #americangrit #memorialday
Thank you Monterey Bay Aquarium for such a beautiful time. I’ve always loved nature but Dashiell has opened my eyes to the beauty of the ocean and all its sea creatures 💕#boyfish
