Strike ends at midnight! My brother recently told me a story about when my grandfather was a young man and the part he played in forming the unions. It made me think of everything Americans have given up to create and protect our unions and now we can proudly say we have played our part and contributed. I’m so proud our union held out. I’ve been a union girl longer than I haven’t. Here is to creating what we love with dignity and collaboration and getting back to the business of storytelling. Let’s not forget to keep giving to all the funds that will keep our fellow actors and crew members going until the work starts flowing again. #unionstrong #uniongirl @robertgant walking the line!!
I took Dashiell to the opening of PETER PAN GOES WRONG at the Ahmanson last night. Opted out of the red carpet, not ready for Dashiell’s face to be out there, and didn’t want to do it without him so grabbed a selfie in the loo 😂. Thank you to Dashiell’s Godfather, Gregory Rae, for the tickets. It was incredible, the audience was roaring with laughter. It was just as good as when we saw it in NY. Dashiell loves this show! It is a must see!
LA born/NY bred. Well, not totally- we’ve just spent a lot of time there so- NY city kid for life ✌️❤️✌️ We love you more than anything our NY friends and we will see you again next month. Here is to another great weekend in the city 💕💕💕💕
On my way to the opening night of THE COTTAGE. What a beautiful Broadway opening! There is nothing that can compare to opening night energy and last night the energy was through the roof! Here is to a great Broadway run and congrats Gregory Rae and @martianentertainment ❤️ #broadway
Holding the line with my dear friend and Queer as folk co-star @robertgant #unionstrong
Happy Thanksgiving!! Dashiell and I ended up in the back of a cab in O’ahu and the driver asked if he could sing us some karaoke. This is my favorite part of traveling; connecting with people, being inspired, discovering and sharing talent and ideas. Anyway, we came up with a social media handle for him and he should launch his page over the Holidays. Go get ‘em Karaoke Cabbie! You have one of the greatest voices! Keep sharing it with the world! We need more music! 💕💕💕💕
6 years. I miss you Papa but can still feel you.. the man they named Mr. Invincible with the heart of gold. Thank you for guiding us and watching over us. You work your magic up there and I’ll work mine down here. I love you Daddy, ya big tough Jersey boy 💕💕💕💕💕💕
It is hard to process. Unimaginable. I went to the Hawaiian islands for the first time when I was fifteen years old. We stayed in Lahaina. I found paradise. I fell in love with Hawaii; the people, the food, the weather, the terrain, the ocean, and the culture. Coming from Portland, it was the first time I ever swam in the ocean. I would then spend the rest of my life going to Hawaii whenever I felt I needed rest or needed to get away. It is where Dashiell first swam in the ocean, first touched sand, first snorkeled and first body surfed. I love Hawaii. I especially love the people of Hawaii. My heart breaks. If this does not wake people up to climate change and the challenges we face moving forward, I am not sure what will. Pacificwhale.org is a site that has been vetted. Give what you can. #hawaiistrong #welovehawaii
Columbia Gorge, Skamania Lodge Ariel Park. Dashiell and I were fifty feet up on the side of a tree and I looked at Dashiell and said, “ I have to be honest, I’m not sure I can do this”. He looked at me and said, “ You got this Mom. Take a deep breath and don’t look down”. So I let him lead in that moment. He was a great leader. He was calm and kind and helped me through the tough moment but he also pushed me. Afterward, he told me not to feel bad.. everyone is afraid of something. Here he is leading the way. You’re a great leader Dashiell and you have always been an incredible teacher. You inspire with ease 💕 #thegreatonesinspire
I stand with Fran!! This was from an event to end cancer where I supported Fran and I am still standing with her. Great speech Fran!! As they say in the biz, “ Don’t let the bastards get ya down!” #Sagaftrastrong
Happy International Drag Day!! This shot is from Season two, episode five, Queer As Folk, Showtime. I had spent the summer in SF attending Drag shows and came back and told the producers about the wonderful Drag King shows. The producers wrote it in. As an artist, you must explore, you must go to the ends of the earth and back and push the envelope and buck the status quo. You must be a rebel. You must challenge small minds and lift others up. Dashiell asked me what was important about acting the other day and I told him imagery, stories, tv, film and stage have the ability to change hearts and minds faster than anything else. It unites us, informs us and sets us free. We get to examine the human condition in a world that wants everyone to be mindless foot soldiers. We get to say we are here, we belong, we exist. And it doesn’t matter who you are- most all stories are a hero’s journey, David and Goliath. It doesn’t matter if you are white, black, gay, woman, man, straight, Asian, Latino, transgender… the story is always about the underdog overcoming the odds. Those characters, people, get to stand up and say, we belong! And people go and see these stories where they belong and it can change someone’s life, a country or an entire world. That’s the power of acting and imagery. Storytelling. We have been telling stories since the beginning of time and we will until the end of time. That’s how I feel about acting. By the way, I think I could have played Elvis Presley 💪
If anyone has seen Hersh Goldberg-Polin please reach out to me as I will pass along that information to the family. He is from Chicago. He attended a music festival in Israel. He hid in a bomb shelter with about 30 other people. After Hamas terrorists bombed the shelter they asked everyone who could still stand to walk out. Hersh walked out. He was missing an arm. That was the last time he was seen. Hamas threw him in a truck and drove towards the Gaza border. Any information on his whereabouts is appreciated. I stand with Israel. I stand with all innocent victims of terrorism. Update: It has been reported that Hersh and his friend were throwing grenades back out of the shelter as Hamas was throwing them into the shelter. He and his friend saved many lives 🙏🏻 #nohostageleftbehind
When the going gets tough.. you have two choices and quitting isn’t one of them. Bravo Dashiell. I am so proud of you. I pity the fool who tries to break your spirit. Good stuff kid 👏 💕👏
I think Kristofferson said it best, “ She is too old for breaking and too young to tame”. Her voice and her spririt were pure and I remember every moment of singing ( screaming) along to “Nothing Compares to you” while driving downtown with my girlfriends. Her voice was angelic and haunting. It made you stop and feel. She was simply too pure and had too much integrity and this world does not like either. She was too good for this crass world. Rest in power Queen ❤️
As they say, way to take the con Dashiell! Good job! Led us to a great little fishing spot, caught five fish! Fish tacos tonight 🐠🐟🎣#oceanboy
Happy Pride London!! I would say they brought it. Very proud of you London!! Well done!! Not only are you a city with a pulse but you have a great big heart as well ❤️💕🏳️🌈❤️💕🏳️🌈❤️💕🏳️🌈
Dashiell said, “ Oh, Mommy means business.. she has her gangster pants on”. Apparently my black mommy jeans are my gangster pants. #Sagaftrastrong #wearsunscreen #hydrate
Happy National Dog Day!! Dashiell just taught Zeus how to swim. Here he is coaching him. I love how they are in a huddle 💕 Dashiell taught him to get in and out at the steps for safety. Good job Dashiell!! We love you Zeus!! 💜💜💜💜💜
I woke Dashiell up at 5AM on a Saturday to help me decorate the Teamster’s Pride float. He is such a trooper. Three cities in one month, 5AM I wake him to catch planes. Warrior boy. Anyway, I am proud to co-host the first Teamster’s pride party tomorrow. We can thank the great Lindsay Dougherty for this. She is the head of the film and Tv teamsters and has a tattoo of Jimmy Hoffa on her left arm. She is old school. She is standing by the WGA and has given her word. She says what she means and she means what she says. I hope to see more alliances like this forming over the next few years. If we ever form a true progressive coalition in this country and lock arms and have one another’s backs.. we will be able to accomplish anything and more but we must understand our rights are intertwined and we sink or swim together. We are all fighting for basic human rights and dignity. As the great African Proverb states, “ If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”. May we continue to form alliances and work together. United we stand Baby! Happy Pride!!!🏳️🌈🇺🇸🏳️🌈🇺🇸🏳️🌈🇺🇸🏳️🌈🇺🇸🏳️🌈🇺🇸🏳️🌈#uniongirl #happypride

Happy 4th everyone!! Keep the faith! 🇺🇸💕🇺🇸💕🇺🇸💕🇺🇸
So I get home from travel and there is a package waiting for me from @t.darklady . She is a lovely artist who has sent me portraits of myself which I have really appreciated but this time.. I open the package and the first thing I see is a portrait she did of my father when he was 18 years old- it sort of slipped out first into my hands. Well, I had been thinking of my Dad and I had felt him all day and usually I get a sign and I hadn’t received a sign and was starting to think that maybe he moved on and well, I just burst into tears when his portrait slipped into my hands. Thank you @t.darklady for your artistry and thoughtfulness and most importantly for keeping my father alive in spirit. You are too kind xoMichelle 💕🙏🏻💕
