I haven’t done this for a little while as my time has been caught up with ‘mum duties’. Being a taxi service and making dinner isn’t very instagrammable! 😄 So this week was busy but good, with lots of variety and family time. 1. It was prom week! There was some last minute running around, but it all worked out in the end. We ended up with a house full of girls, mums and my parents who came to wave them all off. A really lovely moment. 2. It was @abbietuckerr_ wedding! The sun shone, the setting was perfect and I got to spend time with people I don’t get to see very often. Huge congratulations to Abbie and George. 3. I spoke at the @wisdomonwellness festival at the beautiful Painshill Park in Cobham. Although technically it was work, it was such a wonderful event that I loved every bit of it. It was a family affair as everyone came along for the day, (even @teddymcfeen) and we spent the rest of the day there enjoying the sunshine, the stalls and events. Thank you Alex and Mary for putting in such a great event! 4. My sister Linda is over visiting to celebrate her birthday! We don’t get to see much of each other as she lives in Ireland so it’s extra special to have her around. We ended the day at mum and dads, eating too much and laughing a lot, which is exactly how birthdays should be. 5. I’m throwing an extra one in this week, as I watched a brilliant series on telly that I had to share — ‘Colin from Accounts’ on BBCiPlayer. It’s an Australian comedy drama starring real life couple Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammall. I LOVED IT. Warm, real, relatable and made me both laugh out loud and cry a bit. Perfect combo. 👌 #4things 4 things I did this week to fill my cup that had nothing to do with work. I haven’t done this for a little while as my time has been caught up with ‘mum duties’. This week’s Midlife Conversation is an up close and personal one as I’m joined by my husband Nick. This week we open up about our different parenting styles and attitudes and how we find our way through the choppy waters of teenage rites of passage. What do you do when you’re polar opposites when it comes to attitudes about ANYTHING that goes on at home? This is what we will be discussing tomorrow, and passing on our thoughts and experiences – while hugely over-sharing about what goes on behind closed doors! And I’m definitely going to sort my hair out… 🥴 The link to join is in my bio 👆 #midlifeconversations 4 things I did this week to fill my cup that had nothing to do with work: This was a week of a lot of ups and downs; a bit of an emotional family roller coaster! So there was a lot of ‘mum duty’ stuff going on, which meant my head was full of how best to be there as a mum when needed, but not be ‘too much’. So filling my own cup became even more important. 1. I finished off my 30 days of Move by @adrienelouise I needed something to ease me back into exercising again after being weak and poorly for so long, and this definitely did the job. It made me take things slowly – I tend to rush in, all or nothing, and then wipe myself out. I have already started another 30 days, as I missed her when it finished… I love doing my yoga outside in the garden (on my own though. Spot the moment that I notice Mr F secretly filming me. 😅🍑) Next week I start upping my exercise game, with a fitness programme I’ll be doing at home. I want to feel like ‘myself’ again, and by that I mean strong and not quite as wobbly! 2. Speaking of getting physical again (and I honestly didn’t intend this cheesy link) my telly programme this week was Physical on @appletv starring @fullyrosebyrne I have loved her in every single thing I’ve seen her in, but in this she is just brilliant. Great characters, great script, great plot. I can’t wait for series 3 now. 3. We had a lovely walk in the countryside while the sun still shone on Saturday, ending up with a nice pub meal at the @theramblersrest_coulsdon and bumped into an old friendly face. Nice to see you Ray. 4. We took my dad to @the_golfgroove for Father’s Day. He’s always wanted to play at St Andrews, and now her has – albeit virtually! He and mum thrashed us in the golf booth; I think I need to work on my swing/stance/golfwardrobe. A lovely family day, a perfect end to the week. #4things This week I was invited to try out the 3D MediSpa at Champneys Trying, courtesy of 3D Aesthetics. As a post GCSE treat I took Amy along to enjoy a bit of R&R and to have some Mum / Daughter time, and we were really lucky with the weather so it felt like we’d gone away on holiday – with only a trip down the motorway instead of a flight! 🙌 I decided to try the @3dlipo treatment on my stomach, an area that has not looked its best since it experienced: 2 large pregnancies, 2 emergency caesareans, 3 hernias, two laparoscopies and one hysterectomy. It’s been through a LOT! The treatment didn’t hurt at all, was non-invasive, just a bit juddery which made me laugh out loud it was so strange. Sophia who treated me was lovely, and really knew her stuff. I can already see a difference in skin texture, which is great. A beautiful room, great food; Amy loved the cakes in the Terrace Cafe, I very much liked the glass of bubbles with dinner. 😄 We were able to wander about and find our own little spaces to relax, and discovered the joys of a HEATED WATER BED in one of the relaxation rooms! I want to move in and stay forever. @3daestheticschampneys @champneysspas #GIFTED. What a crazy 24 hours! Yesterday morning I was part of a panel discussion hosted by author and speaker @simonalexandero alongside @annakristinajones and @elizabethuviebinene It was an honour to be invited to speak and spend time with such impressive humans. Today I spent time with more impressive humans, this time in a TV studio in Glasgow filming The Weakest Link! It was a lot of fun, and at times quite stressful. I think I may be the first person to admit to having a “Brain Fart” on prime time television when asked why I went blank at one point. 🤦🏻♀️ It’ll be out in the Autumn- I may have just about recovered by then. Do you devour murder mysteries? Are you glued to crime thrillers? So does my guest on this week’s Midlife Conversation. In fact, she loves them so much that she found herself musing, as she raced around the country on her day job as a news reporter, “I wonder if I could do that?” So began Jackie Kabler’s second career as a crime writer, which began in her forties. They say that everyone has a novel in them… it turns out that (at the last count) Jackie has nine! From her first rom-com murder mystery based on her time spent as a breakfast television reporter, Jackie has since gone on to become an award-winning international best-selling author with her books translated into eight languages. So… how do you go from having a nugget of an idea to getting it on paper, and actually getting published? In our conversation we cover: 👉 The writing ‘process’ – how to get inspiration from anything and keep track of your thoughts. 👉 The importance of making time to write, not waiting for the time to be right. 👉 The biggest misconception people have about what it’s like to write a book. 👉 And so much more! If you are curious about what it’s like to become a writer, you don’t want to miss our conversation. You can watch it on YouTube, and join in on Facebook – the links are all in my bio. Enjoy! #midlifeconversations And that is that, the end of our first 24 hour fast. And this is how we feel and what we ate to break our fast… #fasting #24hourfast #womenshealth #menshealth #fitness #guthealth #midlife #reset #thisgirlthisguy 5 and a bit hours to go on our 24hour fast and this is how it’s going… *we are not experts in this or encouraging anyone to do what we are doing. We are just 2 people working things out for ourselves and sharing on social ❤️ #fastingforhealth #fasting #womenshealth #menshealth #couples #thisgirlthisguy #midlife #reset Have you ever done a 24hour fast? We haven’t and we have decided to do one today after listening to @dr.mindypelz on @thediaryofaceopod podcast. We have been fasting for over a year, starting with a 12hour period and gradually increasing this to 15 hours. Why are we doing this? The health benefits of a 24 hour fast for your gut, immune system and general health and well being is well documented. And as many of you know @andreamclean1 has struggled the last year with her health which in turn has weakened her immune system. So let’s see if this helps. The intention is to do this once a week for all of July. We will keep you posted. #fasting #health #guthealth #womenshealth #menshealth #midlife #reset #thisgirlthisguy Why I like wearing black in summer… I know it’s not exactly bright and breezy, but it’s still my go-to. I realised this as the past two weeks have been super scorchio, and yet 80% of what I wear is still black with pops of colour. Why? 🙂I feel comfy in it. 🤩I feel classy in it. 😎I can stick heels on and feel dressed up or sliders and feel dressed down. 🙌I can wear the same thing from day to night. 😊I still feel like ‘me’. 👀I don’t have to wear a bra when it’s really hot and no one knows… These two dresses are case in point and have become my summer faves this heatwave. She is also the author of three novels (one of which, The Stylist, is being adapted for the screen) and a best-selling collection of essays about Kindness. In our conversation today, Rosie reveals what life is really like as editor of one of the biggest magazines in the world, and how working at London Zoo, being editor of Barbie magazine, and putting her hand up in a meeting and volunteering to ‘bag a millionaire in 24 hours in Cannes’ all helped on her journalistic quest! She also shares her unique perspective on Imposter Syndrome – and how growing up as the child of teachers, with no foothold in the shiny upper echelons of publishing, gave her the freedom to feel that she “shouldn’t really be here” so she had nothing to lose. There aren’t many in this world who make it to the top of their career by keeping their feet on the ground and kindness to others their top priority, but Rosie Nixon has managed it. Let our conversation today inspire you to “give it a go”, whatever your ‘it’ may be. #thisgirlisonfire #podcast TagsAndrea McLean Previous articleActor Burt Jenner HD Photos and Wallpapers July 2023Next articleActress Sonnalli Seygall HD Photos and Wallpapers July 2023
