Full of hot air. Literally.
Our second time in Capadoccia. And just as magical. The hot air balloon ride is arguably one of the finest experiences that I’ve ever had. This time around, we had Nihal with us who was mesmerised. Seeing it all over again through his eyes, was an altogether different experience.
Since we are here in the middle of summer, the days are very long , with sunrise at 5 AM. The balloon pilots typically take us up a little before so one can witness the sunrise in all its glory. Our pick up was at 3.45 AM. And Nihal was an absolute trooper. In fact, we woke up at 2.30 ( not unusual for Rishi, given his job💁🏻♀️,) cup of tea, when Nihal walked into the living room, rubbing his eyes.
Hence, proved yet again, there are children will surprise us again and again. Like he did on the trek up to the Tigers’s nest in Bhutan are early this year.

Gül in Gülhane 💁🏻♀️
…when I was in school, studying in Zambia, my maths teacher, Ms Guy
( someone please help me find her) one day told me that GUL is pronounced gal. Like गल. Consider changing it to Gül- the ü is like the ‘you’ sound – as in bull. She was British. Ms Guy. And I suppose they know their peculiar language better than us.
She also taught me the difference between Miss and Ms. But that’s for another post.
Then, many years later, I was in Germany. Where ü is again extensively used. Again the same conversation happened. Someone said if you want your name to be truly pronounced the way it should be.l, it should have the alphabet U with two dots on it. Ü
Some years later, I was in Turkey, where Gül is a very common name. And to be able to pronounce it the way it is, which is a rose here, or a flower in Persian, one needs the two dots on top of the U.
And so when I came back to India, after the trip, in 2017, my charming jeweller friend, Tarun from @navrattangk , made me a beautiful pendant with Gül.😀
Like a name plate. IYKYK.
Then again, a rose by any other name … Gülhane Park

What the duck?
When pigeons start flocking instead of ducks. But the ducks DO follow suit. And how.
