Since the Tories promised to ban no-fault evictions, 85,000 households have faced the risk of homelessness as a result of one. Five years on, the ban has been delayed indefinitely. In unrelated news, 1 in 5 Tory MPs, including at least seven cabinet ministers, are landlords.
As someone with a PTSD diagnosis, I know how debilitating mental health conditions can be. The DWP Secretary says the benefits system shouldn’t be paying people to deal with the “ordinary difficulties of life”. If he thinks that’s not trivialising mental illness, what is it? Taking away the little financial support some people with mental illnesses get won’t help them recover. There are 1.9 million people waiting for mental health treatment. Rather than attacking disabled people, the government must focus on addressing the crisis in the NHS.
#InternationalWorkersDay emerged out of the struggle for an 8-hour day. So many of the rights we enjoy, from weekends to health and safety, we owe to the labour movement. #MayDay reminds us of the power workers have when they’re united. Join a union today and get organised ✊🏽

I once again asked the government to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The Armed Forces Minister refused. History won’t look kindly on the UK’s complicity in Netanyahu’s war crimes. We must stop arming the IDF, and demand a ceasefire now and an end to the occupation.
