What is Feature Development Really Like? Carrying a film or story idea from conception to completion is not for the faint of heart and no two roads are the same. What every filmmaker will need though is the resilience required to hold faith in your process to see your vision through. Proof of concepts are a relatively new format for independent filmmakers and have become an increasingly important asset. There are more opportunities for high-concept indie series, and investors often expect to see proof of your vision and capacity before committing to feature deals, even in the low-budget range. … A little girl who finds she is most at home in the sky, between two worlds she uses romance to liberate and transcend the traps of her existence. The first line of her VO is something like: “Heaven will always be in the sky for me, but at least now I know that my life has always been about wanting to share my heaven… bring my heaven down to earth with me… finding heaven on Earth… I’ve decided growing up means tending to a heaven here on earth… my own heaven… somewhere I never want to fly away from… somewhere I want to die into… give my body back to… and let my soul live on through eternally… Mother Earth gave us life here for a short time… the way back to the sky for me, is through Her… through body… beauty… music…bliss, pain and broken parts… regenerating… Her unapologetic innocence… after a storm… It’s a beginning. This dance with @catijean16 is an improvised exploration of energy… tapping into the same frequency and letting ourselves move together in it… play in it… surrender to it… and so we find something in ourselves to share in, to dance with… like little girls who know this world is whatever we want it to be… I came away remembering that heaven is just a twirl away… and it made it easier to be at home… and so I wrote some… and napped… and played with my daughter and my dogs… and my work is better for it… It’s better to start days at the beginning… I started somewhere else today and too many days… it was good to begin again. oxox

My heart is humbled and sparkling as I read and connect the dots of the little world I’ve created… we’ve created… so deliciously fleeting… I aspire to be more present and more sincere with my time and energy… There is so much I try to do and think I can do… but this dilemma of being in a body that wants what it wants run by a mind that only knows what it knows… By now I understand that I am a free spirit… above all else… I do my best to honor the laws… but I question of all of it… For now though, I can accept it… me… whoa… the rush of letting go… that bliss of not having to know… myself… to let myself go… for this new awareness. I hope you’ve had a beautiful weekend and are excited for everything you can’t possibly imagine happening in the week ahead… and that just right here in this place you feel alive with everything that ever was, that will be, and that is… We get to CHOOSE our own adventure with what is here… and what is here is all we need to find our way back to that aliveness… that AWE… that “kiss of immediacy”… I could go on and on and on and on and already have… Within all of this magic, I pray we each find our own, and revel in it. oxox
Sweet sweet choreography process today with @catijean16. We were like 7 year olds channeling our ancestors from every lifetime ever lived… stirring up magic, giggling, and trusting ourselves to find the next right move… Perfect way to celebrate International Women’s Day. Monday 2/17 join us for another film and music salon on the magical rooftop of Petit Ermitage Hotel. CMP’s collaboration @petits_salons is a beautiful ongoing community building event hosted by Cheshire Moon Productions, Darby Gaelle Hannon and Blkbrd Films. Doors open at 7:00pm where you can settle into the evening atmosphere. Grab a drink, great food, and listen to live music before moving to the firedeck for the 8pm screening. Our featured musician is PJ Costello @pjcostello: proud Canadian multi-hyphenate punk alternative performer. We’ll showcase @mydeaddadmovie, now available at @streamonmax. MY DEAD DAD focuses on the complexities of grief and finding one’s own way in the way of an estranged parent’s death. The film’s journey from idea to script to set to distribution is an admirable one we are looking forward to sharing with you. The screening will be followed by a discussion with co-writer and star Pedro Correa @pedrocorrea.mov, with a discussion lead by co-host @jamesaaronoliver. In our discussion, we hope to dive into the current state of men’s mental health and how we can heal through creation and shared mythology.
